The Caribbean High Tea in Harlem was a special gathering. Great food, local teas and great people. But two moments made the afternoon unforgettable:
🧡 The unveiling of the Heritage Quilt, inspired by Symbols of Courage by Sir Keithlyn Smith and coordinated by the Friends of the Antigua Public Library – New York β€” a stitched reflection of our history, resilience, and creativity.
🍡 The debut of ProsperiTEA β€” A Sip of Wisdom by Grandma Mirie, a herbal blend rooted in generations of family tradition.

It was an afternoon of island elegance, cultural pride, and empowerment as we celebrate 92 years of the ABPS serving as a beacon in the Harlem community.

There are some memories that linger long after the last guest goes home. High Tea in Harlem was one of those.
ABPS members, friends, neighbors, and guests gathered for an elegant afternoon celebrating Caribbean Heritage Month, Juneteenth, and the power of community. Beautiful hats, island-inspired refreshments, old friends reuniting, new friendships forming β€” the true spirit of the day showed up in every conversation around every table.

Thank you to everyone who attended, volunteered, and poured into this gathering. Culture isn't just preserved in books β€” it's kept alive one tea, one story, one shared table at a time. πŸ’›
We can't wait to see you at the next one.

The Antigua and Barbuda Progressive Society is proud to host the unveiling of the Heritage Quilt, inspired by β€œSymbols of Courage” by Sir Keithlyn Smith. Every square carries a memory, and this Sunday, we pour the tea. β˜•πŸͺ‘

Coordinated by Friends of the Antigua Public Library - NY, it features 30 panels β€” stitched stories of heritage, resilience, and identity.

From frigatebirds over Barbuda to market women, steel pan rhythms, windmills, and childhood and family scenes β€” each panel honors the journey from Africa to the Caribbean to the diaspora, preserving the spirit that carried our people across generations.

Join us at the Caribbean High Tea in Harlem as we celebrate culture, community, and legacy.
