The meaning behind the name Shamsun Color is quite important, to me at least. My parents named me Shamsun, which in a rough translations means the Sun. I thought it was interesting because we are all miraculously born under the same Sun, and therefore each of us deserve to be treated with respect. I didn't want to keep the name of the Sun to myself, so I have decided to share it with the my sisters, daughters, mothers, strong independent forces that deserve the same respect as everyone else under our Sun.
Shamsun Color is a non-profit organization working toward lifting up women and working towards a future were all women feel respected and equal. We want to bring and celebrate the various colors of woman under one roof. We organize fashion shows where we take models from different backgrounds, from mothers and daughters, disabled, autistic, to cancer surviors, in an attempt to showcase the infinitely various types of women in hopes that one day everyone can have a role model they can connect to and we can rid outselves of the stereotyping of women.
