(7 August 2024) I wrote this earlier today to a friend:
As the conflict heats up in the Middle East (thanks to Netanyahu intentionally provoking it), things may change as a reaction in the US election. The stock market crash only lasted 2 or 3 days, not a real crash. And there may be other surprises and tricks along the way.... Trump is capable of setting the nation and world on fire to further his dictatorial aims. If his plots fail, Harris & Walz win. The excitement among Democrats and Independents tells us Harris will win by a landslide. Their genuine smiles are contagious. The more Americans get acquainted with Kamala Harris and Tim Waltz, the more popular they become.

But there are other obstacles Trump has erected, such as the MAGA vote-counters in several states. They could and probably will gum up the works to where the electoral college can't determine a winner; the conflict is then thrown to the Supreme Court, the court sides with Trump by handing it back to state legislatures, of which 26 or 27 out of 50 are Republican-controlled. So, even if Harris wins by 10 or 15 million votes (which I fully expect at this time), the Trump appointed Supreme Court may give America the finger and hand Orange Dictator the election.... thus, setting off massive demonstrations in this country which is exactly what Trump wants so he can invoke the Insurrection Act on or after Inauguration, declare martial law, and shoot thousands of demonstrators. He longs to see dead bodies in the streets. He is evil to the core and is without conscience.

That’s what I see at this time. Kamala Harris and Tim Walz are refreshing, and polls reflect this. It feels like Obama 2008. She picked the right VP. She’s super-intelligent and knows the heartbeat of America.

Despite these positive developments, I still see Trump as a grave danger to America, democracy, and world.

They totally believe him when he tells them the 2020 election was stolen from him. But they don't believe him when he tells them he's coming back to be a dictator and declare a national emergency so he can order federal troops to round up demonstrators and Democrats.
