Finding Home

Home is often thought of as a place. For me, it’s where I’m fully present, and where I find a sense of comfort.
Photography has changed how | see and experience the world. It has taught me to slow down and find meaning in the smallest details.
Somewhere along the way, I realized I wasn’t just photographing places - I was photographing the way they made me feel.
Finding Home is a collection of those moments that made me pause, feel connected to the world and reminded me of the quiet comfort that one typically feels at home. Each photograph reflects a feeling I haven’t yet found the words for. I invite you to see the world through my eyes. My hope is that, as you experience these images, you find one that makes you pause, catches you by surprise, and perhaps lets you discover a new meaning of home.

Artist statement :

Kieran Bergin is a contemporary sculptor based in Montclair, New Jersey. Working primarily with stone, steel, wood, clay and industrial materials, he is best known for abstract realist works that depict human figures, objects and animals in dynamic motion to evoke psychological and social states of nature.
Kieran’s work often pulls from snapshots of daily life and his own past experiences.
Characterized by a balance between abstraction and figuration, he translates observations and emotional tensions into sculptural form.
Kieran began his career serving in the United States Marine Corps, subsequently working in the machining and steel fabrication industry. His interest in design and artistry led him to study at the Parsons School for Design, now a part of the New School. After attending, he began a successful, decades-long career as a commercial illustrator.
Throughout this time, sculpture always remained his primary passion, honing his style into the pieces he now displays today, emphasizing his strong understanding of structure, illusion and spatial tension.

Artists Statement:

My practice is lens-based at the core and interdisciplinary in nature. Spanning photographic assemblage, glass assemblage, moving-image, creative writing, and art house documentary photography, my work uses integrative methods, both with experimental use of materials and combining disciplines, to create compositions which speak to the purpose of contemporary identity in the digital era.

Artist Statement

My work reflects my evolving perspective and my relationship to the world around me. Through honest depictions of personal meditations and lived experiences, I aim for my work to function as a mirror—one that fosters collective understanding and healing.
My process begins intuitively, allowing the narrative to gradually come into focus. This push and pull of looking, seeing, and searching becomes a way of deepening my understanding. Working primarily in portraiture and the figure, I explore both stylistic and symbolic approaches to capture the essence of a person or moment.
Nature is a constant source of inspiration. I’m drawn to the parallels between human experience and the natural world—our cycles, like those in nature, reflect patterns of growth, decay, and renewal. In seeking to understand the world around us, we come closer to better understanding ourselves.

Artist Statement -

My work delves into subjects such as gender identity, s*x, and existentialism, and serve as an outlet for me to process my own emotions and identity. Having learned classical painting methods during my time at SUNY Fredonia, my style is representational, but with an aesthetic aligning best with impressionist paintings. I love exploring the relationship between a detailed and “realistic” painting from afar, but when inspected closer having textured brush strokes and exposed portions of underpainting. I try to create intriguing compositions and candid poses from my models to breathe new life into portraiture. I also explore the idea of mixing photography with my paintings to create familiar but unusual color palettes and compositions.
