The elders and children in our community were asked to speak to the Community Board 2 members to prevent them from building 4 more shelters in the neighborhood, that already houses 6 shelters. Currently, that is the most any neighborhood has.

Protect Chinatown came out to chaperone those who felt unsafe going home after the event. ✊🏼 We stand with Chinatown and hope to keep you and your loved ones feel safer daily.

Thank you Asian American / Asian Research Institute - City University of New York for donating face masks for our elders and our community!

Happy to donate face masks to the young volunteers of Protect Chinatown & join their patrol today to pass out info, masks and personal alarms to Asian seniors. ✊🏻✊✊🏼✊🏽✊🏾✊🏿

We had the honor to help 300+ residents apply for vaccination appointments. We hope to continue this service, with the goal to have Chinatown to be the first to reach our herd immunity goals. 💚💚💚

We understand it may be difficult for our elderlies to sign up, so we are physically distributing printed flyers around town this weekend.

We are AMAZED at the amount of support (sharing & signups) in only 2 days!

To all of you that have applied as volunteers, we thank you and are working to respond to everyone!

We know that our loved ones may be shy to reach out and ask for help, but please let them know that this initiative is here if they need it! No one should feel unsafe in their own neighborhood.

Protect Chinatown, based in New York’s Chinatown, is now open for volunteer applications and chaperone requests via our website: https://protectchinatown.com

The recent incidents have invigorated rage and fear in our communities. Protect Chinatown hopes to restore safety and confidence in the members of our community. Our initiative will pair chaperone requests with volunteers, in hopes that this will prevent potential attacks.
