I picked up this Havanese dog an hour ago.
Sheโ€™s known me for barely sixty minutesโ€ฆ
And somehow, sheโ€™s already asleep in the backseat like sheโ€™s finally able to breathe again. โค๏ธ

Curled up beside her pillow wearing tiny shoes and a pink patterned vest, this sweet girl closed her eyes before we even left the shelter parking lot.

No shaking.
No crying.
No fear.

Just sleep.

The shelter staff warned me she might take time to trust people after spending months being overlooked.

But I think her heart was just tired of waiting.

Now every few minutes, I glance back at herโ€”not because Iโ€™m worriedโ€ฆ

But because I never want to forget this moment.

The exact second a rescue animal realizes:
โ€œIโ€™m safe now.โ€

Iโ€™m driving slower than usual today.

Because this isnโ€™t just a car ride.

Itโ€™s the trip home. ๐Ÿพ
