Last month, we held the IIE IAPP Intensive Partnership Strategy Workshop in partnership with the U.S. Embassy in Bangkok as part of the International Academic Partnership Program in Thailand (IAPP Thailand).

Sylvia S. Jons, MBA, director of the IIE Center for International Partnerships, was joined by experts Susan Buck Sutton, Tim Barnes, and Stacy L. Burger to deliver a two-day workshop to over 100 representatives from Thai higher education institutions, focused on building institutional international partnership strategies amid changing landscapes, goals, and institutional priorities.

The workshop concluded the 2025 IAPP Thailand program, a comprehensive 10-month initiative focused on deepening academic partnerships between the United States and Thailand. The program included study tours, guided strategic planning, mentorship, webinars, and seed grant opportunities.

We are deeply grateful to the U.S. Embassy in Bangkok for its support and to all participants. We look forward to the next program.

Educational exchange produces significant diplomatic dividends, including economic growth and workforce development.

This brief by IIE Research, Evaluation, and Learning's Julie Baer and CSIS Americas Program's Juliana Rubio and Eitan Casaverde examines how these educational ties lead to shared understanding and collaboration that can help pursue national interests, such as economic growth and workforce development, or address shared challenges, such as border security.

: The future of our oceans depends on more than scientific discovery alone.

It will take scientists, entrepreneurs, educators and storytellers who can translate science into shared understanding, connect knowledge to action, and build lasting stewardship across disciplines, cultures, and communities.

The Ocean Futures Fellowship was created to meet that need.

Sponsored by OceanX and administered by IIE, the Ocean Futures Fellowship is designed to expand ocean literacy and empower the next generation of ocean innovators.

Through training, educational projects, professional development and mentorship during a six-month, full-time program, fellows gain advanced skills, hands-on experience, and access to OceanX’s international network.

Together, these opportunities support career growth while supporting ocean literacy and leadership worldwide. Learn more about current fellows and OceanX: https://bit.ly/3QpqON4

Applications for the next cohort are open through May 3. Link below
