Some of the shop trinkets that few see…
This hand painted Policeman was presented to my Great Grandfather when he retired. He never actually wore the uniform but was a civilian who shined shoes out of the 71st Precinct in Brooklyn and did so for over 40 years
They didn’t have a lot of money, they made due and lived in East NY. What I always loved was the stories of the cops whom he served and how they always took care of him and even drove my aunts and cousins home when they saw them walking home from school
Unfathomable in modern NYPD without repercussions but that was time long ago……
The culture of policing has changed, the days of looking out for each other aren’t what they used to be and that needs to change
