The film is "Wings," a silent World War I epic about two young pilots, Jack and David, who start out as rivals over the same girl and end up devoted to each other. Jack is played by Charles "Buddy" Rogers, David by Richard Arlen.

In the final act, David is shot down behind enemy lines. He steals a German plane to get home and is gunned out of the sky by Jack, who never realizes it's his best friend in the cockpit.

David dies in Jack's arms. Jack kisses him - on the cheek, at the corner of his mouth - and weeps over his body.

It's regularly cited as one of the first male kisses in mainstream film. No censor touched it, because in 1927 nobody was willing to say out loud what the rest of us can see plainly.

I restored and colorized this c.1910 photo of Magnus Hirschfeld's 4th, 6th, and 7th patients. They were three of the first trans men to receive medical care and legal support in Germany over 120 years ago. I can't help but appreciate their dapper sense of fashion.

A “patriots” group is planning to stage a “MAGA Invasion” at Disneyland in February on the very same day as the California park’s “Gay Days” meetup.

The organisers, the Hollywood-adjacent 805 Patriots, called for a counter-meet-up on 28 February for “like-minded people that support our President and Great Nation” who want to “return to American roots and classic values”.

805 Patriots have encouraged attendees to wear MAGA-themed attire and t-shirts reading “Make Disney Great Again” – which they sell on their website – but to keep in mind that Disneyland reserves the right to turn away anyone wearing clothing that is "inappropriate or distracting." They insist that the meet-up is “strictly recreational” and “NOT a march, protest, demonstration, or political action”.

The organisers of the event were apparently unaware that their “Disneyland MAGA Invasion” fell on the same day as “Gay Days”. In a press release, they said: “Another unrelated event is scheduled at Disneyland on the same date. This overlap is coincidental, and both groups intend to enjoy the park without interference.”
