(ANS – Rome) – As the Season of Creation 2026 gets underway, the Salesian Youth Ministry Sector has announced a special initiative, the “Breath of Life Campaign,” to be carried out during the final week of the Season of Creation, from 27 September to 4 October 2026.

The campaign is a tree-planting initiative promoted by the organizers of World Youth Day 2027. According to the official World Youth Day website, “this is more than just an environmental initiative. It is a faithful act of preserving the order of creation and a concrete step toward carbon neutrality rooted in our belief in God.”

Salesian missionaries in Lebanon* continue to support youth and their families who are facing insecurity, displacement and deteriorating living conditions. At the beginning of March 2026, the resumption of clashes between Israel and Hezbollah, against a backdrop of growing regional tension, led to the displacement of people in various parts of the country. Families from villages near the border with Israel and from neighborhoods hit by the attacks have sought refuge in El Houssoun, where the Salesians are coordinating relief efforts alongside the local authorities.

WORLD HUMANITARIAN DAY: Salesian Missions highlights aid efforts around the globe!

Salesian Missions joins humanitarian organizations and countries around the globe in recognizing World Humanitarian Day. Celebrated every year on Aug. 19, World Humanitarian Day honors the humanitarian efforts worldwide that support people in crisis.

“Humanitarian aid can often mean the difference between life and death in the communities Salesians serve,” explained Father Michael Conway, director of Salesian Missions. “Because Salesians live in the communities they serve, they are often on the front lines of humanitarian disasters. Whether providing water access or critical food aid in communities or clothing and shelter in the immediate aftermath of a disaster, Salesians are perfectly positioned to help.”

As the selection process continues, the UN Security Council is conducting informal straw polls to assess support for the candidates seeking to succeed António Guterres, whose term ends on 31 December 2026.
