AGBU University Outreach is a new program initiative aimed at building and strengthening relationships between AGBU and Armenian college students at universities around the world. The program not only provides assistance to Armenian student groups in preparing and launching programming for their members, but also serves a means to connect them to the various AGBU programs and networks. Throughout

the year, University Outreach collaborates with students and faculty across the United States and Canada to organize seminars and events that encourage students’ professional and social growth. These include resume-building and interview workshops, where students benefit from the guidance and expertise of industry leaders as they prepare to enter the workforce.

AGBU Central Office (NYC) is Seeking an ACCOUNTING Intern

Job Summary
AGBU is seeking a part-time Accounting Intern to assist with day to day accounting tasks and special projects as needed. This position, with the Accounting Department at AGBU’s Central Office in Manhattan, will require some interaction with other departments. This position requires candidates pursuing a college degree majoring in the accounting discipline. In addition, strong problem solving and communication skills, proactivity, and flexibility are necessary.

Candidates must live in the Greater New York City area.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities
•Assist with bank reconciliations and journal entries related to bank interest and investments;
•Assist Accounts Payable Supervisor with following up on vendor invoice discrepancies and contacting vendors as needed;
•Perform administrative tasks with regard to accounting documents;
•Perform special projects as assigned.

Essential Skills and Education/Experience
•Junior or senior undergraduate or graduate student enrolled in a degree program, with a major in accounting;
•Strong accounting knowledge required; some accounting experience preferred;
•Excellent analytical skills, ability to multitask and handle shifting priorities;
•Highly organized, detail-oriented, and reliable;
•Adequate writing and verbal skills;
•Knowledge of Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, and Outlook;
•Data entry experience;
•Interest in the non-profit sector, specifically in fund accounting.

Compensation
Qualified candidates will receive an AGBU Scholarship in the amount of $1500 - $2500 per term (based on hours worked) payable directly to his/her university.

Term
Starting Summer 2014 (May/June - August; term can be extended)
Between 10-15 hours per week
