Over the past several Mondays in May and June, our College Shower Honorees had the opportunity to step into something truly special. ✨

At the Brooklyn location of Meg (), each student was welcomed with personalized styling sessions, thoughtful guidance, and the chance to select one-of-a-kind pieces from Meg’s archive collection, handpicked with care by Meg and her team. From tailored fits to racks of beautiful clothing, every detail was considered to help our girls feel confident as they step into their next chapter.

Thank you to Meg and her incredible team for creating such a warm, celebratory environment. We are grateful for your time, energy, and heart.

Here’s to sending our girls off to college feeling strong, smart, bold, and beautifully themselves. ♥️

Strong. Smart. Bold. ♥️
At Girls Inc. of NYC, we’re creating spaces where students feel seen, heard, and supported,
especially during a time when youth mental health matters more than ever.
Through our Mind Body Matters program, students across all five boroughs are building
confidence, processing emotions, and learning tools for lifelong well-being. From mindfulness
and movement to creativity and connection, our educators are helping girls show up as their full selves.
This year, with support from All Points North Foundation, we’ve been able to bring the program
to six middle schools, breaking down stigma and empowering girls to speak up, seek support,
and support one another. Because every girl deserves a safe space to grow, heal, and thrive.

Our youth are facing a mental health crisis. More than 1 in 7 adolescents ages 6-17 experience mental health illness each year, with su***de being the second leading cause of death for people ages 10-24. In recognition of May as Mental Health Awareness Month, we’re highlighting our ongoing commitment to youth mental wellness.

Each spring, our Elevate Her Essence Conference addresses a critical need for young people to gather in community, practice self care, and build resilience. In March, approximately 1,000 students from schools across New York City attended our conference for a day of activities centered on mental health and wellness. Through meaningful dialogue, dynamic workshops, activity stations, and educational presentations, students learned practical tools to manage stress and support their physical, social, and emotional well-being.

Thank you to lead sponsors The Burberry Foundation, Erborian Self-Esteem Club, Guess, International Youth Foundation, and L’Occitane, The Sculpt Society, additional in-kind sponsors Bloomcourt Farm, Dolce Vita, Dove, E.L.F., Flower Aggregate, FlowerCat, Kate Spade, Lush, Raising Cane’s, Steve Madden, and Whole Foods Market for making this momentous event possible.

Thanks to our incredible speaker and MC Dr. Vivid. A shoutout to FORWARD_Space and 305 Fitness for their dance party and cardio sessions, Dodge YMCA, Stems Brooklyn, Mount Sinai, Daughter Lessons, L.O.V.E. Mentoring Program, WeWoreWhat, the Hance Family Foundation, Black Girls Smile, and E-Star for their thoughtful and creative activity stations.

Finally, huge thanks to the staff, students, and volunteers who made it an incredible day.

This Mental Health Awareness Month, we wanted to talk about something most of us quietly experience but rarely say out loud: that feeling of opening Instagram feeling okay and somehow leaving it feeling like your life is not enough.

Turns out, there’s actually a name for it, social comparison, and it affects young women more than we often realize.

Social media doesn’t just show you other people’s lives, it quietly makes you measure yours against them, and that is something we need to talk about more honestly.

If this feels familiar, it’s because so many young women feel this, and too few spaces actually acknowledge it.

Four incredible Girls Inc. of NYC participants had the opportunity to attend the She Means Business program, hosted by the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) and Citizens Bank, and we couldn’t be prouder!

Participants explored the history of the NYSE, discovered their own money personalities, and built real-world financial skills by learning how to manage money and make investment decisions. From participating in an exercise where they decided to buy, sell, or hold stocks from major companies, to hearing directly from a panel of phenomenal female leaders, the day was filled with insight, inspiration, and hands-on learning.

A special congratulations to Mia, who was selected to ring the closing bell! The day was a powerful reminder of what’s possible when girls are given the tools, support, and space to lead.

The awards were accepted by April Caldwell, our Chief Programs Officer, and Lily Chang, our Chief Strategy Officer.

Presented at the NYC Her Future TrailblazHER Awards Ceremony at the New York County Supreme Court, this recognition celebrates our commitment to empowering girls and young women to be strong, smart, and bold. We’re proud to be in such powerful company.
