It's GO TIME! Script submissions are officially OPEN for SheNYC 2027!!

What do I need to include in my application?

1. The full script to your show, in PDF form. It must be at least 75% finished. If the rest is not finished, you need to provide a “treatment” (a detailed outline of the scenes that remain to be written, in order) along with the script. Bear in mind that you will have to send us completed script if you’re selected as a finalist.

IMPORTANT: Your script PDF must not have your name on it!

> Why do we ask this? Our model is based on giving writers an opportunity based on the quality of their writing, free from the types of bias that the entertainment industry normally considers, such as connections, having an agent, etc. Having your script anonymized to our readers ensures we can fulfill our mission of evaluating scripts without bias.

2. A completed application form with some basic information.

We know how much time writers spend on applications, and we’re not trying to add to that burden. Therefore, the form is as quick and easy as we can make it while still getting the information that we need.

3. If your show is a musical, recordings of at least 3 full songs from the show, in mp3 or m4a form. The more you have, the better! A simple recording with just you and your piano is fine, though obviously you want to make your music sound the best it can. Please do not submit Finale or Sibelius files (or any other automated vocals).

4. If your show is a solo show, a video of at least 5 minutes of your solo performer performing a cut from the show. This can be a video from a prior production or staged reading, or it can be a self-tape of your actor recording themselves at home.

> Why do we ask this? We’ve found that it’s incredibly hard to evaluate the quality of a solo show without knowing the performer who will be carrying it.

Have more questions?

Read our FAQs at SheNYCArts.org/submissions (that’s also where you’ll find the application!), and if there's anything we didn't cover, you can email [email protected].

We're thrilled to finally reveal that SHEEPWELL will have its world premiere at the 2026 Austin Film Festival as a first-wave selection. Words can’t express how grateful we are to be included in this illustrious lineup.

Inspired by Lope de Vega's Fuenteovejuna, SHEEPWELL is a Southern Gothic feminist thriller about a whiskey-drinking novelist and her daughter whose act of mercy toward a mysterious stranger turns into a battle over truth, control, and collective resistance.

Directed by Kim Caicedo, and adapted by Caicedo and SheNYC Artistic Director Danielle DeMatteo from Margaret Rose Caterisano's 2022 SheNYC Festival play. Produced with Lauren Elizabeth Harris & Pathway Pictures.

Starring Michole Briana White as Wattle, Alix Lapri as Sarah, and Connor Paolo as Thomas, with Denise Grayson, Lauren Elizabeth Harris, John Carey, and Mark Ryan Anderson.

We’ll be premiering at the festival October 29 – November 5, 2026. Austin, we'll see you soon! ✌️

Brad Bird, Andrew Haigh and Aleshea Harris will be honored at 2026 Austin Film Festival.

Listen- it's been a tough year for arts funding. The federal government imploded. The post-COVID reinvigoration grants ran dry. Funding for equity & diversity-related nonprofits plummeted. We found ourselves at the cross-section of all these issues. And that's why we couldn't possibly be more grateful to the folks who kept out programs going. Thank you. 💙

If you want to join in supporting gender equity in the arts & entertainment industry, head to SheNYCArts.org/donate to keep this dream alive.
