🌱 What if their first classroom experience felt more like… this?

Time to play. Make. Explore. Get messy. Build friendships. Follow their curiosity. And slowly discover the confidence to do a little more on their own.

Harlem Sprouts is our play-based, child-led program for little ones around age 2, designed to be a gentle, joyful first step into a classroom community.

For many of our Sprouts, it’s their very first drop-off experience. We take that seriously, creating a space where children can feel safe, known, capable and excited to come back.

Calling all aspiring actors, artists, comics, and kids who like fun! Join the Shabbat Show troupe this fall! Part arts collective, part learning lab, and part joyful Shabbat ritual, The Shabbat Show is a Jewish children’s musical theater experience. Guided by professional artists, including the incredible Sarah Saltzberg, creator of the 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, and Creative Stage educators, kids explore Jewish stories and tradition through improv, musical sketch comedy, and collaborative storytelling. Together, they write original scenes and songs, often pairing brand-new lyrics with familiar pop hits and Broadway tunes, resulting in performances that are funny, playful, smart, and personal. The premise is simple: children are not passive recipients of tradition; they are active authors of their Jewish identities. Maker Space Camp: Week 2 Kicks Off with Big Ideas! This week, our campers are exploring the art of construction using unexpected and recycled materials, turning everyday cardboard (and more!) into extraordinary creations.

This morning, campers got hands-on, experimenting with different materials to see what they could build. After lunch, they settled in for two short films from the Tate in London, exploring the surprising possibilities of cardboard as a building material. Inspired and ready to create, they spent the afternoon in the studio designing and constructing their very own cardboard homes.

We can’t wait to see what they build next! 📦

Summer is here and you know what that means! Family Happy Hours in the JCC Harlem Oasis are back! Join us Wednesdays starting July 8th from 4-7pm for family-friendly fun. We’ll have bites by Maison Sablé, beverages by Uptown Spirit, and kids crafting with our fabulous JCC Harlem educators. Purchase tickets for kids, which cover food and fun. Adults are free. Beverages for purchase should you choose. See you there!
