About this Event
Join us in this vibrant May Day celebration, a holiday in Hawaiʻi honoring the tradition of giving and wearing lei as a symbol of Aloha. Learn to make your own lei laʻi hilo, get connected with your community, and enjoy the outdoors alongside hula and music. Flowers and leaves provided. In collaboration with Stacey Young and Hālāwai.

Join Lei Pasifika for a special workshop led by Amelia Butler of Learn Māori Abroad and kaiako he mātau ki te reo Māori at Yale University. This immersive session introduces participants to Māori traditions and movement.
Amelia will teach long and short poi techniques guiding students through foundational movements, coordination, and the cultural meaning behind each element. This workshop is designed for all levels and is both educational and empowering, offering a deeper appreciation for the Māori culture.
