Our classroom doors opened last week, marking the beginning of a heartfelt promise fulfilled.

With your support, we began a one-year educational journey for 10 children from families facing financial hardship—children who may not otherwise have access to quality learning. This program provides not only academic instruction but also moral and social education, nurturing both the minds and hearts of our students.

The Myanmar Development Foundation has supplied books, learning materials, and a safe space to grow. But this is only the beginning. Our current budget allows us to support these children for just one year. With continued generosity, we hope to extend this opportunity to future years and reach even more children in need.

Dear friends and supporters,

It’s been some time since I last shared an update on our ongoing efforts to support communities affected by the earthquake in Myanmar. I want to take a moment to highlight two meaningful projects that the Myanmar Development Foundation has been focusing on — both aimed at bringing lasting hope and stability to those in need.

1. Access to Clean Water
While our initial hope was to dig a deep well to fully meet the needs of the community, our limited budget led us to install a smaller-scale water pump. Despite its size, this system is already making a significant difference, helping alleviate the urgent water shortage faced by families in the area. It’s a modest but vital step toward restoring daily dignity and health.

2. Education for Children – A Long-Term Investment in Hope
Among all the initiatives we’ve undertaken, this one carries the greatest long-term impact. I’m deeply humbled to announce the launch of a new educational program supporting ten children in vulnerable communities. Through this effort, we aim to provide not only formal education but also a strong foundation in ethics and moral values.

We’ve carefully budgeted for a one-year plan, with each child’s education and materials costing just $3 per month — a small amount that can open doors to a brighter future.

Myanmar Earthquake Disaster Relief – Financial Update & Program Overview

With heartfelt gratitude, we would like to share a financial update and program overview of our ongoing Myanmar Earthquake Disaster Relief efforts.

In response to the urgent and overwhelming needs of those affected by the disaster, we have already implemented several life-sustaining initiatives:

✅Distributed food and clean drinking water to support the immediate health and well-being of families in the hardest-hit areas.

✅Provided medical aid and emergency cash assistance to help vulnerable individuals manage urgent healthcare and daily needs.

➡️As we look ahead, our next phase of support will focus on:

✅Establishing sustainable access to clean drinking water, ensuring long-term health and safety for affected communities.

✅Supporting children's education, by providing the necessary resources and stability for them to continue learning amidst the challenges caused by the earthquake.

We remain deeply thankful to all donors and supporters. Your compassion and unwavering generosity are directly transforming lives.

Daily Tremors, Daily Compassion
Even as Mandalay continues to endure the unsettling tremors—two to three earthquakes a day—our team on the ground refuses to let fear or fatigue slow them down. With unwavering dedication, they continue to prepare and deliver warm, nourishing meals to families impacted by the disaster.

Today’s meal: fried noodles lovingly cooked with fresh vegetables, eggs, and meat. A humble plate, but one filled with care and humanity. In the face of uncertainty, it’s these small acts of kindness that bring comfort, dignity, and hope to those who’ve lost so much.

To everyone supporting our efforts—thank you. Your compassion is reaching hearts, one meal at a time.

Update:

The team on the ground continues to carry out daily donation and relief efforts with unwavering dedication. Their spirit is strong, and their hearts are fully committed to supporting those in need.

They shared an update with me today about their work yesterday. The team distributed snacks and eggs to affected communities, using around MMK 300,000 (approximately USD 75) to help bring some comfort and nourishment to those impacted.

In addition, they provided direct cash assistance totaling MMK 110,000 (around USD 28) to three individuals who were affected by the earthquake, offering them a small but meaningful gesture of support in this difficult time.

They also spent MMK 35,000 (roughly USD 9) on transportation costs to ensure these goods and assistance could reach those who need them most.

We are deeply grateful for their compassion and tireless efforts on the ground.

Update:
The team on the ground shared these videos with me yesterday. While preparing meals for the next distribution, they also took the time to support those affected by the recent earthquake with cash donations.

Some of the victims have lost their homes, while others have been injured. A total of MMK 470,000 (approximately USD 105) was distributed based on the severity of each person’s hardship.

While we had their kind consent to share this donation, we chose to blur their faces out of respect for the privacy and dignity of both our team members and the earthquake victims.

Another team is on their way to Sagaing City, the epicenter of the earthquake. The Myanmar Development Foundation has allocated MMK 5,000,000 (around USD 1,164) specifically to provide medical aid to those in urgent need.

Meanwhile, the team in Mandalay continues to carry out additional relief efforts to support affected communities.

Update:
I wanted to share an update on one of our planned relief activities: the distribution of rice and eggs to families whose homes and loved ones were lost during the recent earthquake.

Given our limited funding, we issued token cards specifically to the most affected households to ensure an organized and fair distribution process. The aid was provided in two different areas, and with a budget of around USD 950 (approximately 4,000,000 Myanmar Kyat), we were able to support 360 families with essential food supplies.

One of the videos sent to us from the community was incredibly moving—they shared a heartfelt “Thank you” message to all the donors abroad. Your support is bringing comfort and hope during these difficult times.

REMEMBER. These volunteers are selflessly giving their time without any compensation. Friends and family have come together to support and uplift their community

Today, our team in Mandalay was able to support the community by providing clean water for essential daily needs such as bathing, cooking, and drinking.

With the intense summer heat, access to safe water is a critical need for hundreds of households across the area.

In response, the team distributed 100 water tanks, each costing approximately MMK 30,000 (around USD 7), helping to bring relief and dignity to families facing water scarcity.
