MCGY successfully convened the Youth Assembly ahead of the UNECE Regional Forum on Sustainable Development 🌍
The event brought together distinguished UNECE dignitaries and guest speakers, including:
• Paul Ladd – Head of the Sustainable Development Unit, UNECE
• László Borbély – State Secretary, Government of Romania & Head of the Sustainable Development Department
• Dario Liguti – Director, UNECE Division on Energy, Housing and Land Management
• Andrey Poshtarku – Regional Advisor, UNFPA Eastern Europe and Central Asia
These speakers shared valuable insights on the regional SDG process and priorities, setting the stage for impactful discussions.
Through engaging breakout sessions, youth from across the UNECE region actively contributed to key themes including SDG 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation), SDG 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy), SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure), SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals), alongside UN80.
We also had inspiring presentations from diverse youth NGOs and civic groups across the UNECE region, showcasing innovative, community-driven solutions and reinforcing the importance of inclusive participation.
Importantly, the feedback and key messages from this Youth Assembly are now being presented at the UN Youth Forum, ensuring that the voices and contributions of young people from the UNECE region are reflected at the global level.
The strong contributions from young people highlighted their critical role in shaping collaborative, sustainable, and forward-looking solutions for our region.
