Meet the 2026 Project YZ Cohort.

We’re thrilled to welcome Sarah Mika Esser and Michi Zaya to Project YZ, Yangtze Rep’s residency supporting the next generation of AAPI theatre makers.

Selected from a pool of 100+ AAPI artists, Sarah and Michi will spend the coming season developing bold new work that explores identity, community, grief, Queerness, and belonging.

We can’t wait to jumpstart their creative journeys and bring their ideas to life!
