Four years ago, the WPS-HA Compact was launched with a clear purpose: to drive real, lasting change for women and girls affected by conflict and crisis. In a time of growing pushback on women’s rights and shrinking civic space, the Compact stands as a collective commitment to do more for women and girls, and to do it together.
This year, as we mark the 30th anniversary of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action and the 25th anniversary of UN Security Council Resolution 1325, we are reminded that our movement is rooted in decades of feminist struggle and global solidarity. The Compact carries that legacy forward not just through words, but through impact: with 240 signatories and in two years, over $2.52 billion invested, and 47 million women and girls reached.
But what makes this movement powerful is the shared resolve to work differently: through intersectional, inclusive, and intergenerational approaches, through coordinated action across peace, development, and humanitarian sectors, and with the political will to turn principles into outcomes.
As we mark this anniversary, we’re not looking back. We’re looking forward to deeper accountability, to stronger partnerships, and to a world where women and girls living in conflict and crisis settings are not only protected, but also heard, supported, and leading the way.
