❓❔❓❔Did you know that Americans of Asian descent have been in the United States since the 1500s? This class will examine the history of Asian Americans – often known as the “invisible Americans” or “forever foreigners.”

In this class, you will learn and discuss:
• Theories of race and ethnicity as related to Asian American and Pacific Islanders
• How the Asian diaspora, especially the Chinese in America experience, shaped U.S.
immigration law
• How and where the identity “Asian-American” came from
• History of cross-racial solidarity between Asian Americans and other nonwhite
communities
Mondays and Wednesdays from 2:15-3:30pm (in person)

Today, 5/4 at 5pm - Join us for “How to Not Have Your Sh*t Together: A Virtual Workshop on Failure,” led by Mimi Khúc. We'll explore our ideas about success, failure, social & cultural forces that shape our ideas, & the impact of those perceptions. The stakes of failure are especially high for Asian Americans. We will explore the burden of feeling like a failure & how we might opt out--perhaps by leaning into failure & not having our s**t together at all times.
