Partnerships for Parks, operated jointly between City Parks Foundation and the New York City Department of Parks & Recreation, was proud to serve as the city’s official public outreach partner during the creation of the Urban Forest Plan.
Across every neighborhood PfP hosted workshops, gathered vital input, and helped shape a shared vision for our environment. Along with public input, extensive experience and data from foresters, scientists, administrators, and educators, the final plan presents a comprehensive, clear roadmap of the exact work required to grow our city to a healthy 30% tree canopy, but it lacks one thing… funding.
The vision has been provided; now it is time to build it. Without dedicated funding for planting and maintaining trees, the plan is simply a suggestion. Please help us to achieve the next step by encouraging the Mayor and City Council to fully fund our green future: preserve.nature.org/page/190322/action/1
