Kenya has confirmed its first case of Bundibugyo Ebola Virus Disease.

Amref is ready to work alongside Kenya’s Ministry of Health, local governments, and other partners to help stop the spread of Ebola and protect communities.

Amref has identified 708 trained health workers who are ready to support the response. They can help communities get trusted health information, track possible cases, and strengthen care in health facilities.

Before sunrise, Emmanuel Malama begins a journey few would choose.

After losing his leg as a child, Emmanuel refused to let it define his future. Today, as an Amref-trained Community Health Assistant, he crosses swamps and wetlands in northern Zambia to bring lifesaving health care to families living far from the nearest clinic.

Every crossing means a mother can access antenatal care, a child with malaria can receive treatment sooner, and a family can get trusted health information before illness becomes an emergency.

Emmanuel's story is a powerful reminder that strong health systems are built by dedicated health workers who meet communities where they are.
