Her Migrant Hub commemorates International Women's Day and Women's History Month by sharing the wisdom of the women in our community. Today, we feature Christiane, who shared this powerful thought:

"International Women’s Day is an opportunity to bring awareness to the importance of educating men on how to build a safe emotional environment for their daughters, wives, sisters, and mothers. Then, this is how we will reduce feminicides that are dangerously increasing around the world."

U.S. Deportation Flights to Venezuela Inhumane with Migrants Returned to Atrocities

Latest Press Release by Welcome with Dignity

Read more at: https://welcomewithdignity.org/press_releases/

Andreina Zuluaga highlights:

“7.3 million people from Venezuela have left the country since 2014 according to data from the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR). Venezuelans have been displaced, and the majority of them have been forced to do so. Getting people back to Venezuela is not going to help the crisis. Venezuelans are looking for opportunities. This needs to have a humanitarian response at a macro level and the adjustment of policies in the U.S. for people who are already here, like expediting work authorization permits for asylum seekers.”

During the last decades, several women from the Garifuna community of Honduras have been arriving in New York as asylum seekers. They were forced to leave their country because of systematic violence and stigmatization. Garifuna women have experienced multiple traumatic events from violence exposure, and many experienced post-traumatic stress disorder symptoms. However, they have been strong enough to overcome their past experiences. This webinar aims to provide an understanding of the women from the Garifuna community and point out their resilience stories and coping strategies.
