This Giving Tuesday, November 28, 2023, we will be engaging with community members to raise awareness and promote the power of community giving. Each year, we fundraise to support our programs. This year, we are looking to raise money to help offset costs for the B-BLAC Youth Center, a physical site based in New York City, to offer our programs.

As part of a strategic approach and assessment of B-BLAC's impact and capacity, we engaged with our program beneficiaries and other community members to identify needs and strengthen our scope of work. From our engagement, we saw the need to extend program enrollment and participation outside of New York City Public Schools. With this new approach, we are fundraising to secure capital to lease a commercial space to offer our programs.

This campaign is part of a larger $30,000 fundraising capital & program campaign.

Your donation in action:

This $30,000 campaign will support the following:

•Cover 3-month lease expense (January- March 2024) while B-BLAC awaits anticipated grant funding.
•Provide small stipends /Per Diem for program facilitators and instructors for the three months.

•Cover program-related expenses.

What does advocacy look like to you?

As we ease into the third quarter of 2023 our vision remains the same— to empower Black and Brown male youth by fostering community and brotherhood.

During this year of reset, we are taking steps to ensure the sustainability of B-BLAC’s programs and overall vision. Three years ago, we were just a thought and a group of friends determined to empower our community. Our vision has grown stronger! As we continue to develop and implement plans for the future, we hope you will continue to support us as we build a movement — as necessary as air!

Stay tuned, we have exciting news to share in Quarter 4! For now, unleash the power of community by donating to us!

In Community,

B-BLAC

YOUR BLACK ISN’T WACK!
Today, Black achievements, history, and legacy face threats from those who continue to use centuries of racist platitudes to undermine and erase the stories, struggles, triumphs, and legacy of Black people. From efforts to ban Critical Race Theory in classrooms to blocking AP African American studies, the need for more extraordinary exhibitions and education of Black history is vital.
Similarly, Scholar and forerunner Carter G. Woodson, after being barred from attending American Historical Association conferences despite being a dues-paying member, believed that the white-dominated historical profession had little interest in Black History. He saw African-American contributions "overlooked, ignored, and even suppressed by the writers of history textbooks and the teachers who use them." Woodson's dedication to celebrating the historical contributions of Black people led to the establishment of Black History Month, marked every February since 1976. With the oppression and continued racism, it would be easy to detach ourselves from our community. Slavery, systemic racism, police brutality, incarceration, economic struggles, healthcare disparities, inadequate housing, education inequality, unfair employment, and a myriad of other issues, do we get a break? Or is it that the one we get is to break us? Dismantle us? or erase us?
This Black History month, think about your legacy. What can you do to resist forces that continue to oppress us? Your gift may differ from Lonnie Johnson, Madam C. J. Walker, or George Washington Carver. However, you possess resiliency, creativity, and courage to move your community forward! Start organizing, resisting, and building! HAPPY BLACK HISTORY MONTH!
