This , we're featuring someone who's had a profound impact on Grand Street Settlement's community—State Senator Brian Kavanagh.

In collaboration with fellow settlement houses, partner organizations, and elected officials, our Baruch Elder Services Team (BEST) NORC hosted a food distribution in his honor to thank Senator Kavanagh for his years of service to his constituents. Participants celebrated Senator Kavanagh with a homemade going-away present and a dedicated dance performance.

CEO Robert Cordero surprised Senator Brian Kavanagh with a Friendly Heart Award, an award inspired by our children's book, My First Day the Grand Street Way. The Friendly Heart Award is for those who go above and beyond in supporting Grand Street's high-quality programming while embodying the Grand Street Way. ❤️

¡Viva Las Dinámicas! 💃🏽

Telemundo attended Grand Street's Hispanic Heritage Month festivities, where Las Dinámicas joyfully celebrated their Puerto Rican heritage with a stellar dance performance.

Grand Street's culturally inclusive programming allows people and groups like Las Dinámicas to share their cultural practices while forging deep community ties.

Longtime Grand Street participant and Dinámica Carmen Sotomayor said it best: "[Grand Street] is like a second home."

This , we're wishing you a happy Hispanic Heritage Month and a happy Mid-Autumn Festival! The sharing of cultures is an integral part of our programs and around Grand Street, we've been celebrating.

💃🏽 Older adults at the Rose Center enjoyed a lively Hispanic Heritage Month celebration thanks to the wonderful performances by Grand Street's senior dance group, Las Dinámicas. Plus: Las Dinámicas are scheduled to be featured on Telemundo October 13th! Follow us on for specific details as we have them to share.

🪇 Lyons Community School held a ¡Dimelo! Night where families of Hispanic and Latin American descent educated the Lyons community on the history of Bomba and Plena dance, and led attendees in creating their own maracas as well as a beautiful mosaic-style mural!

🥮 As the Mid-Autumn Festival honors togetherness, celebrating it with Grand Street is a beloved tradition among Senior Housing residents and BEST NORC seniors as they enjoy traditional music (thanks to the Tang Art Center) while snacking on yummy mooncakes.

🎶 The Baruch Elder Services Team (BEST) NORC hosted a delicious lunch featuring foods from different Latin American cuisines, including classic cultural dishes like arroz con gandules, ham with pineapple, and crab salad. Seniors also enjoyed the music from their favorite Concerts in Motion, Humberto and Oscar!

hits the road with Gowanus and Wyckoff Gardens Community Centers!

Our two, newest community centers took a trip to Baltimore, Maryland to celebrate this year’s Crab Fest, enjoying buttery helpings of all-you-can-eat crab!

Did you know that our cornerstone community centers serve more than just youth? These community hubs provide workshops and classes for adults, wraparound support services, and host community events that bring the whole neighborhood together.
