One of the biggest worries every special needs parent carries is the question, “What happens when our children grow up and age out of school?” It’s something that’s always in the back of our minds.
Last night, we were so lucky to have Dr. Lisa Liberatore and the incredible team from Luv Michael | Volunteer join us for our first summer workshop.
They’re showing families that adulthood can be filled with purpose, friendships, meaningful work, and community. Through their Indigo Community Life Classes, autistic adults have opportunities to explore culinary arts, wellness, music, culture, sports, and more…all while building real connections. We also loved learning about their beautiful friendship bracelets, handcrafted by autistic artisans, each one representing dignity, belonging, and purpose.
Seeing everything they’ve created right here on the East End was so inspiring. As parents, it’s comforting to know there are people working so hard to make sure our children have opportunities to continue learning, socializing, contributing, and truly living full, enriching lives long after school ends.
A huge thank you to Dr. Lisa and everyone at Luv Michael for spending the evening with our families and for giving so many of us hope for the future. 💙
