BlackRock—one of the world’s leading investors in fossil fuels—is scared. Last week, NYC Comptroller Brad Lander recommended that we divest $42 Billion of NYC pension fund money with the asset manager due to their insistence in funding the destruction of our city and our future. This was due to years of work from our team and our partners.

Now, the NYC pension boards—made up of union leaders and elected officials—will meet next week to consider the proposals. The ball is in their court.

It’s time to tell them to put our future over fossil fuel profits.

BREAKING: Today, NYC Comptroller .lander announced recommendations to end $42+ billion in investment with BlackRock, as it leads funding of fossil fuels across the globe. He also made recommendations to end all investments with Fidelity and Pan Agora over their failure to comply with the pension fund’s net zero standards.

If implemented by the pension boards, this would be massive. BlackRock invests over $400 billion worldwide in the fossil fuel industry, and New York City pension funds are what enable it. Put simply, BlackRock—and other managers like Fidelity and Pan Agora—have proven any dollar our city’s pension funds send to them destroys our city with raging climate disaster, weakens hard-won pension investments, and turns our future to fire by investing in worsening air and water, and by choking our communities.

It’s now time for our pension trustees to follow .lander’s lead and that of the countless community organizations who’ve been a part of this advocacy, and deliver truly fossil fuel-free pension funds aligned with the need to combat the current worsening climate crisis and aligned with the call for a livable and just future.

Despite incredible wins with the adoption of the Belém Action Mechanism on Just Transition and a strong gender action plan, has failed to deliver what’s needed for a future our generation can survive in.

A text that doesn’t mention fossil fuels phaseout is not a text that is serious about science nor justice.

Here at , stands in contrast to many Democratic governors—from Hochul to Newsom—who are trying to claim climate leadership, whilst continuing to push forward fossil fuel expansion in their states.

Mamdani’s climate policy — including his commitment to the full implementation of Local Law 97 and closing the landlord loophole, as well as his opposition to fracked gas pipelines like the Williams-NESE pipeline — stands in stark contast to oligarchy-aligned federal leaders and Democratic governors here at COP.

It’s time for us to chart a new future for climate policy in the United States — one that opposes the expansion of deadly fossil fuel infrastructure, militarism that continues to be the leading cause of emissions and genocide globally, and the expansion of false solutions whether it be AI or Nuclear.

It’s time to follow ’s lead on climate.

As New Yorkers head to the polls today, there’s no better day to remember there is only one candidate for NYC Mayor— — who supports the full implementation of our leading climate law, Local Law 97 by most critically closing the real estate industry’s landlord loophole, limiting “renewable-energy-credit” to 10%, and providing funding to support smaller homeowners in reaching the further targets.

As our streets flood, we deserve a mayor clear-eyed about climate action and reducing pollution in the third biggest emitting city in the world.

Polls are open today 6am-9pm. Let’s get out to vote for a different future for our city!

Earlier this month, we rallied with and others to demand that the pass the Package. That starts with Intro 1180 to enforce our Green New Deal for Buildings, ending the landlord loophole in order to lower pollution, energy use, and utility bills.

On Friday, hundreds of New Yorkers gathered at the Church Of The Village, joined by to chart a vision for a New York that stands up—not capitulates—to Trump on climate.

Hundreds of New Yorkers called , who declined to send a representative, demanding she stop the $3.2 billion Trump-backed fracked gas Williams NESE Pipeline and instead build out the mandated 15 GW of public renewables.

, in stark contrast, outlined a New Yorkers that could stand up by blocking disastrous fossil fuel expansion, rapidly building out renewables, passing the and Acts, ending fossil fuel subsidies, and actually enforcing our climate laws.
