In review mode at this year’s review meeting! ✨✏️

Earlier this month, we gathered in Harlem to thoughtfully read and discuss each proposal submitted. The care, rigor, and intention in the room reflected the brilliance of our museum educator community.

Thank you to everyone who submitted! Your ideas, research, and practices made for rich conversation and meaningful consideration.

We were also grateful to spend time with the exhibition currently on view featuring the work of pioneering artwork of artist, educator, and activist Tom Lloyd - an inspiring close to a day grounded in light and possibility. 💫

Thank you to the Studio Museum for hosting us! Stay tuned for more info on the NYCMER 2026 conference coming soon!

🎬 DEADLINE EXTENDED FOR NYCMER 2026 ANNUAL CONFERENCE PROPOSALS | Submit by midnight on Feburary 9th, 2026 🎬

Theme: Action!
Museums and cultural spaces are vital sites of learning, community, and civic life—yet we are navigating unprecedented political, financial, and environmental pressures. This year, NYCMER asks a critical question: How do we take action?
We invite proposals from museum educators, cultural workers, librarians, teaching artists, archivists, public historians, zoo and science center educators, students, and community partners—along with collaborators beyond the museum field.
Do you have ideas around advocacy, resistance, community care, or institutional change?
Are you reimagining what action looks like inside—or beyond—our institutions?

A huge thanks to our scream coaches Alessandra and Nature for leading us through some cathartic releasing of feelings. Big shoutout to Alessandra for the ice cream after care and letting us try her homemade Horchata ice cream using all natural ingredients.
