DA McMahon & NYPD to Partner for Upcoming Cash for Guns Event in West Brighton

From the office of District Attorney Michael McMahon:

While there is no silver bullet to eradicating gun violence, we know that the presence of even one firearm in the home can be the difference between a fatal accident, a successful su***de attempt, or a domestic violence incident escalating out of control.

With this in mind, DA McMahon is proud to share that our office is once again partnering with the NYPD for yet another No Questions Asked, Cash for Guns event on Saturday, July 11th! The event will be held from 10AM-4PM at the New Hope Community Church located at 77 Alaska Street, Staten Island, New York 10310.

Attendees can relinquish their firearm to NYPD personnel and receive a cash gift card for doing so with no questions asked. A $500 bank card is available for those who turn in a handgun or assault rifle, $200 will be provided for those who turn in a ghost gun, and $75 can be claimed for an operable rifle or shotgun.

While our office works tirelessly in tandem with our partners in the NYPD to arrest and prosecute those who carry illegal fi****ms, prevention is absolutely critical to public safety and since DA McMahon took office in 2016, these events have helped take well over 1,000 guns off of our streets!

Our June meeting was well attended. The meeting was very informative, all concerns were addressed by Deputy Inspector Palaj and staff. Congrats to Sgt Ching & P.O Landin Cop of the Month. Special thanks to our elected official representatives and all who attended.
