Teen Relief Missions are transformative volunteer experiences that empower teens to make an impact and contribute to something bigger than themselves.

October is a month of giving with OU Relief Missions! 🌎
This month, we’re heading to:

📍 Puerto Rico with OU Fellows
📍 Eastern Tennessee with Maayanot
📍 New Orleans with Ramaz

Three communities. Three missions. One goal: Gain by Giving.

When a family is waiting to go home, every extra pair of hands matters.

Our partnerships with organizations on the ground allow OU Relief Missions volunteers to step in where they’re needed most, helping move families one step closer to rebuilding their homes and their lives.

PARTNER SPOTLIGHT: Inspiritus 💙

What does it mean to help a community go from surviving to thriving? Inspiritus walks alongside families facing disruption, from foster care and resettlement to disaster recovery, bringing strength, courage, and support when it’s needed most.

We’re proud to partner with Inspiritus in helping communities rebuild and recover.

New Orleans’ Lower 9th Ward is still healing, nearly two decades after Katrina. When our volunteers showed up this summer to rebuild, one neighbor didn’t just say thank you — he wanted to hug every single person who came. 🧡

8 years ago today: NJ NCSY Puerto Rico 2018 🇵🇷

On Day 3 of the mission, NJ NCSY volunteers drove two hours across the island to help rebuild a farm devastated by Hurricane Maria. Eight years later, the reminder still resonates: “It is not incumbent upon you to finish the job, but you are not free to avoid it either.”

For some teens, a chessed mission is more than a trip. It’s a chance to experience Judaism through action, community, and giving back.

As Miriam Pittinsky of JSU Metro West puts it: “Judaism feels bigger than Hebrew school — because it travels with them.”

This September, our team is in Florida for a staff day — planning, training, and gearing up for what’s next. 🧡
The missions you see are only half the story. Behind every trip is a team making sure we’re ready to show up right.

Another relief mission in the books. 🧡
This August, our volunteers rebuilt homes, delivered food, and showed up for communities still recovering — because relief work doesn’t stop when the news cycle does.

Grateful for every hand that made it happen. On to the next one.

Puerto Rico is still rebuilding — years after Irma, Maria, and Fiona, thousands of families are still living with damaged homes and unreliable power. Our NCSY summer students showed up to help close that gap: rebuilding homes, cooking and distributing food to those in need, and finding moments of joy along the way — from chasing waterfalls to soaking in the island’s beauty.
Real recovery happens through hands that show up. Proud of what this group accomplished. 🇵🇷

Three years ago today, NCSY Summer students were hard at work in New Orleans! 💪🌎

A throwback to the impact, teamwork, and dedication that continue to inspire our Relief Missions today.
