For too long, we've watched masked (and often armed) ICE officers ambush noncitizens in courthouse hallways, throw immigrants to the ground, and tear sobbing children from their parents.⁠

We sued ICE over this practice - and won. Except in very limited circumstances, ICE can no longer arrest people for showing up to immigration court - in New York City, and nationwide.⁠

No one should be arrested for doing exactly what the legal system requires of them. With this order, they won’t be.

We sued ICE over the dehumanizing, horrific conditions people have been subjected to at 26 Federal Plaza - and won. A district court has issued permanent protections requiring ICE to improve conditions at 26 Federal Plaza. But let's be real - it shouldn’t take a federal lawsuit to get the government to comply with the law.⁠

The conditions at 26 Federal Plaza were entirely a crisis of ICE’s own making. We'll be watching closely to ensure no one is ever again subjected to the same trauma and abuse that our clients endured.

WIN: A federal court ruled in our case challenging ICE’s courthouse arrests, striking down its unlawful policy of mass immigration arrests in courthouses.

This ruling - which applies nationwide - is a huge win for every noncitizen seeking to safely attend their immigration court proceedings.

New Yorkers who have been to protest regularly are probably familiar with the NYPD's Strategic Response Group, or SRG. Officers in the unit have demonstrated a clear pattern of targeting people of color, using excessive force, and they even generate higher rates of misconduct complaints compared to other officers. ⁠

In New York, there is no state requirement for schools to teach comprehensive s*x education. As a result, the quality and content of instruction vary dramatically. Some kids receive comprehensive s*x ed that teaches medically accurate information and helps them build healthy relationships. Some receive a homemade curriculum riddled with misinformation and inappropriate memes. Other students receive no s*x ed at all.⁠

The NYPD failed to document nearly *10,000* stops just in 2025.

This is a blatant disregard for New Yorkers’ constitutional rights. Thirteen years after stop-and-frisk was ruled unconstitutional, there is simply no excuse for police to continue to evade accountability and oversight by misreporting stops.

A little nor'easter couldn't keep us away from the Street Works Earth Festival this weekend! We hosted an interactive table to share our ongoing reparations work and engage community members in conversations and creative outlets to learn what it means to repair generations of harm and build a more just future.

Thanks to everyone who stopped by to explore the connections between reparations, environmental justice, and the conditions our communities continue to experience today.
