Congratulations to the FY26 Einah Reza Manalo Pelaez Memorial Scholarship Winner: Eileen Figueroa!
Einah Pelaez, our SWE New York President from 2016 to 2018, was a great leader. She was dedicated to making our section successful and meaningful in many dimensions: professional development, networking, and outreach. Einah was a dynamic leader who brought amazing energy and capability to every event and project. She was a warm and loving person who made people feel welcome and comfortable wherever she went. We were fortunate to have Einah share her life with us for over ten years. Einah passed from this life way too soon, robbing her friends, family and the world of a bright light. She is dearly missed.
To commemorate Einah’s life and contributions to SWE New York, after her passing we officially renamed our scholarship fund to The Einah Reza Manalo Pelaez Memorial Scholarship Fund. Since 2016, we have awarded over $45,000 to young women pursuing an education in engineering and STEM!
This fiscal year, after reading through the applications of a very talented applicant pool, we have awarded this year’s scholarship to Eileen Figueroa! Eileen’s accomplishments and dedication to SWE, both on a local and national level, academic record, community outreach efforts, and leadership experience allowed her to truly stand out and we are thrilled to have her as this year’s awardee!
