Today we visited South End Elementary School in Cedar Grove, NJ. As always our favorite Mascot inspired the children and helped them achieve a “healthy hat trick.”

It was so nice to have 2x Stanley Cup Champion and alum Colin White there to sign autographs and speak to the youth. Our Founder was also there empowering the students to be healthy and active.

In 2016, Get Focused took a leap.
What began in 2009 as a citywide movement in New York City expanded into Newark, NJ — not because we were chasing growth, but because Newark called us in. Rodney M. Fuller, then-CEO of the Boys & Girls Club of Newark, believed in our mission and personally invited us to bring our award-winning program to the city.
When we arrived, it wasn’t a big team… it was a hungry one.
Two emerging fitness professionals from NYC — and — said yes to joining our Founder, Goldin Martinez, and they poured everything they had into this community. Today, both are among the most recognizable fitness leaders in the world. But back then, it was just us — walking into neighborhoods with passion, purpose, and a simple belief: young people deserved better.
And Newark embraced us.
Leaders like and welcomed us with open arms. Academic champions like stepped up and volunteered their time to ignite our young people’s potential. Our mission in Newark was simple, powerful, and unwavering: inspire youth to read, move, and grow with positive role models who push them to Get Focused.
Over the last decade, Get Focused became a true force in Newark — partnering with the , , , , the Honorable and so many others who believed in what we were building. Together, we’ve impacted thousands of young people through reading, movement, mentorship, and love.
And now, almost ten years later… we’re coming back.
Get Focused is officially relaunching in 2026 — bigger, bolder, and more committed than ever to giving young people free access to high-quality coaches who train them not just for sports, but for life.
This next chapter is special.
Newark changed us — and now we’re ready to return the favor.

Don't quit. Even when all the odds are stacked against you and it seems impossible to overcome them. Don't quit. Even when friends & family can't see your dreams & visions and they don't give you the love & support you need. Don't quit. Even when you don't have a dollar to your name and you can't afford to eat or live and it literally makes sense to give it all up. Don't quit. Since I started my journey ten years ago of building a national movement called Get Focused I literally faced all of these challenges & more and no matter how hard and difficult it got I never quit because I knew that one day my dreams of creating a company that can inspire the world will come true. I would go days without eating and even became homeless just to be able to pay for my company to survive. I would use my last dollar to help someone else before I even helped myself. And I'm not saying this because I'm better than the next man, but because these are the real sacrifices I had to make to see my dreams come true. So for those of you out there chasing your dreams, trust me you can do it but just never quit. I now wake up everyday and I make a living doing what I love to do while also making a difference in the lives of others and it's all because I chose not to quit when things got hard! You can do the same thing!

I really want to take the time to honor this special man right here. His name is Juan and he works for Stevens jersey city ford. Juan is actually the Ford Motor Company salesman who coordinated the deal with the amazing show Returning The Favor for this incredible Get Focused Mobile Library. The reason I am highlighting him right now is because when the GF Mobile Library was awarded to us by Returning the Favor, they happily paid for it in full for us and added one year of insurance coverage on it for us which was super generous of them to do, but of course we needed to find a safe & secure place to park it in the communities that we serve where it won't run the risk of being vandalized or stolen and to be honest the search was more difficult than expected. Especially to find a place with top notch security for parking. It took us months to finally find a safe parking with 24-7 surveillance for the vehicle to be safe and secure, but during that long search the GF Mobile Library needed a safe and secure place to call home and that's where the phenomenal Juan and Steven's Jersey City Ford stepped up without hesitation. They willingly kept our GF Mobile Library at their dealership for as long as we needed them to and protected it throughout the entire winter. This afternoon I went to go pick it up from them to take it to its new home and begin the process of activating the interactive library on wheels in the communities we serve. I asked Juan to take this photo with me as I was leaving so I can tell everyone about his incredible generosity and the immense support his dealership Steven's Jersey City Ford gave us. Juan definitely earned himself this GF T-Shirt!

In honor of today's snow storm I want to post this photo of me and one of our original Get Focused kids Luis standing in front of a supermarket during a snow storm in 2014 to help elderly people carry their groceries home. This was a community service exercise that I was teaching Luis through our GF Leadership Academy for him to learn how to be selfless, helpful, & noble.

This is a Returning The Favor follow-up. Our show with Mike Rowe is almost at 7 million views and counting and the blessings do not stop pouring in. Yesterday I drove over an hour to meet with Dan Sczweck one of the main directors of a giant initiative called Healthy U that operates in over 400 YMCA sites in 21 counties across the state of New Jersey. Dan emailed me a few weeks ago when he first saw our RTF episode and told me that he wants us to build a partnership together between Healthy U & Get Focused and that he wants our award-winning program to be implemented at all 400 of their sites and ultimately impact the lives of their 70,000 children. I was so happy and responded to his email right away and in the last few weeks Dan and I have become friends and have made great strides towards building this incredible partnership between our respected organizations. Dan invited me to play some basketball last night with other directors and teachers from their community so that we can all meet and talk about how we're going to change lives together and not only did I have a great time with them all, but I left inspired that Get Focused is growing up!

Success for children depends solely on the commitment of good hearted adults who take the time to educate & empower them for a lifetime! In my eyes, nearly all humans are capable of loving one another and providing for our children, but some are too caught up in trying to obtain status in life that they never experience the joy of changing a child's life. I urge everyone to start taking initiative and find a way you can empower a child. At GF we do it through reading and exercise, but there's children out there in the world who need food, water, shelter, clothing, and sometimes just a simple hug. We are surrounded by so much negativity but don't let that dictate your actions towards helping our country reach a brighter future for our children! -Goldin

"A LOT CAN HAPPEN IN TWO WEEKS:"

Good morning everyone! It's been two weeks since the airing of our Returning The Favor episode with Mike Rowe about our organization Get Focused and the enormous blessings do not stop pouring in. I cannot thank the RTF team and community enough for changing my life and helping bring our GF mission to millions of people. The episode is approaching 7 Million views and the response so far has been phenomenal. We have gotten hundreds of emails from people all around the country who want to start GF chapters, send us books, donate money, and even invite our Get Focused program into their schools to work with their students. We have also gotten thousands upon thousands of comments from people all around the world offering us inspiration to keep going. I'm still literally reading new comments everyday and they warm my heart and make me happy to know so many people care. We even got invited to be an upcoming guest on a very famous talk show to speak about our movement and how it is impacting lives. A great lawyer Matthew J. Moisan even offered us pro bono work through his law firm Moisan Legal to help us do things the right way and one of my best friends in life and favorite mentors David Gise founder of the Centre for Social Innovation in New York City offered to help us establish our first ever Board of Directors. Some of my other favorite outcomes so far after the show have been the New Jersey YMCA State Alliance reaching out to us and wanting to implement the Get Focused program at all their sites through their very successful "Healthy U" program which is implemented in all 21 counties throughout New Jersey, reaching more than 76,000 children and their families. Building a strong partnership with them would be unbelievable. Another amazing outcome is we formed a partnership and started building a special program with a very famous sports team the New Jersey Devils & their famous mascot NJ Devil, that will promote health & education to over 70 schools in New Jersey. Their mascot and I will travel together to various schools across the state to host interactive assemblies that will teach the importance of staying physically active, working hard in school, and eating a healthy diet. This partnership is truly a dream come true for me because when I first launched GF I always dreamed of partnering with famous sports team to empower thousands of children. One final outcome I want to share is having famous CEO's reach out to us personally and wanting to help our GF movement grow. One very nice and brilliant CEO in particular who reached out is the legendary Erin Patton who was the man responsible for the genius product & marketing for the Air Jordan brand in the 90's. Mr. Patton called me personally two weeks ago to tell me how special and necessary he believes Get Focused is and how he wants to help us build partnerships with companies that can help take our program national, and even around the world. Mr. Patton and I have been talking almost daily since the show aired and in less than two weeks he already got our program an invite for later this year to the caribbean islands of Barbados to teach a famous minister who works with thousands of families out there our Get Focused program. He shared our RTF episode with the minister and they want to bring our special program to their island to empower the entire community to read and exercise. I was left in shock when he shared the news with me. Mr. Patton has been truly heaven sent for us and I feel very grateful that he believes in our mission. There has been many blessings bestowed upon us since the airing of our episode and as the leader of our movement I just want to say one thing to everyone out there who is working towards their dreams and striving to make a difference in their community like we have at Get Focused; It's not about how big or small your movement becomes, if your movement only helps one person in the world then smile about it and be happy because there's people in this world who chose not to help anyone at all. This world is unfortunately full of evil, but if we all do our part and continue spreading goodness around to everyone we will make the world a better and safer place for our future generations. Always have your heart in the right place and even when all the odds are stacked against you, keep going and do not stop helping others!

Do all you can to make your dreams come true. It doesn't matter how long it takes you or how hard it gets for you, my advice is to just keep going. All our dreams can come true if we have the courage to pursue them. I spent the last nine years pursuing my dream of creating Get Focused and even when I became homeless and didn't know where my next meal was coming from I just kept going and pushing forward with my GF mission. It's been almost a week since I was awarded this beautiful Sprinter by Mike Rowe and his extraordinary new Facebook show called Returning The Favor. Our special episode together is approaching 6million views worldwide in less than a week but none of this happens unless I kept going. So please never stop chasing your goals! -Goldin Martinez

This has been the most life changing week for our organization Get Focused and for myself Goldin Martinez as the leader of our movement. After our Returning The Favor episode aired we have received hundreds of emails and phone calls of support from people all around the country who want to get involved with our mission of empowering children to read and exercise. It's truly beautiful to see the outpouring of support. I have personally read each and every email myself and my heart is overwhelmed with joy. My team and I are doing our best to respond to everyone who reached out and are excited for all the new developments that are happening for our Get Focused organization. Thank you to everyone who believes in GF and wants to help us grow and also a very special thank you to Mike Rowe for being a hero!
