💙💛YiYi | 1:30pm - 2:30pm
YiYi, a Ukrainian folk group composed of Caroline Kuhn, Katie Pawluk, and Zoya Shepko, breathes new life into traditional Ukrainian songs through unconventional arrangements and a diverse mix of instruments, including the bandura, violin, banjo, hutsul drum, cello and accordion. Their performances are characterized by three-part polyphony, creating rich sonic tapestries that transport audiences from lively party vibes to poignant moments of heartbreak.
💙🤍LOS CHANTAS | 3pm - 4pm
Los Chantas will be playing tangos, milongas, and valses from the Argentine tango tradition along with original compositions. People are welcome and encouraged to dance! The performance will include, David Hodges - bandoneón, Emilio Teubal - piano and Sergio R. Reyes - violin.
The group has been playing in milongas, clubs, theaters, and other venues in and around New York since its inception in 2002. With original arrangements of songs by Gardel, Troilo, Salgán, Piazzolla, and others, and a playful, improvised style, Los Chantas infuse classic tangos with new life and unique flavor. LOS CHANTAS recently released “Un Veinte”, which is available for streaming and digital purchase on Bandcamp.
