INSPIRATION POINT | TENTER Craig Lucas on what inspired him in the creation of the book and lyrics of his newest musical (in collaboration with David Mallamud) WHAT YOU SEE…The inspiration was Isiah Lattimore’s wall mural.

“In 2021, Michael Lluberes from Flint Repertory Theatre asked me to write a one-act based on one of a series of murals. I leapt at this because I’d already been dreaming up the notion of two strangers in a gallery space contemplating an artwork from diametrically-opposed belief systems. I looked at all of the murals on offer and chose Isiah Lattimore’s beautiful diptych. Lattimore’s body of work is infused with a level of enchantment and spiritual respect for the figures and the world they inhabit that I find rare, unique and inspiring.” CRAIG LUCAS (playwright)
