ℹ️ABOUT THE PLAY | There is an old married couple, struggling with physical and mental deterioration, trying to remember the word for the color turquoise. There are two teenage boys, working out how to bear the weight of a recent su***de attempt, and finding out what they mean to each other. There is a pianist with a brain injury, who can only remember the last seven seconds, and his day nurse. Slowly, these six lives, with their unifying themes of memory, love, and loss, overlap more and more, in a simultaneous symphony of love and suffering. Turquoise reminds us that everything is always happening all at once.

PLAYWRIGHT | Deb Margolin is an Obie Award-winning playwright, performer, and co-founder of the groundbreaking feminist theater collective Split Britches. Her acclaimed body of work spans solo performance, playwriting, and teaching, and she currently serves Professor in the Practice in the undergraduate Theater and Performance Studies Program at Yale University.

ABOUT TOWN (MAINE) • WORLD PREMIERE | TENTER Wendy MacLeod’s play The Laugh Track is currently running until May 31st at Portland Stage (Maine), directed by Christopher Grabowski.

ℹ️“Madelyn Pugh and Bob Carroll Jr. meet by chance in 1957 after their work together on I Love Lucy has come to an end. Over the course of their conversation, we see flashes of their time together working with Lucille Ball, Desi Arnaz, and studio execs. This play shines a light on the inner workings of America’s beloved sitcom and the woman who punched up the jokes, fought for her career, and paved the way for women in the writers’ room. Fast-paced and full of wit, The Laugh Track brings familiar characters to life, while proving that comedy is not a man’s job.” - Portland Stage
