We are thrilled to welcome Ingrid Silva to the vildwerk. family as part of Dancing for the Wild at Bryant Park’s SummerStage on June 5th. Mark your calendars and join us for what promises to be an exceptional evening — and don’t forget to bring a picnic. 🌿🩰
Following her recent retirement and final performance with Dance Theatre of Harlem after an extraordinary twelve-season career, Ingrid now joins us as a choreographer presenting her work Intersections of Life.
Created for Chattanooga Ballet’s 50th anniversary and set to an original score by Brazilian composer Leandro Albuquerque, Intersections of Life was inspired by the ways we move through and connect with one another in life. The choreography flows with an effortless strength, imagining us as water — navigating our own intersections, encounters, and journeys. The incredible Ariana Dickerson, Amar Smalls, Vinicius Freire, Thierry Blanchaard, Joshua Ponton, and Eunhye Darbouze will be performing this work.
Born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Ingrid trained at Projeto Dançando Para Não Dançar, Escola de Dança Maria Olenewa, and the Dance Theatre of Harlem Professional Training Program before dancing with Deborah Colker, Grupo Corpo, and Dance Theatre of Harlem. Throughout her career, she has performed works by legendary choreographers including Arthur Mitchell, George Balanchine, William Forsythe, Annabelle Lopez Ochoa, Robert Garland, Donald Byrd, and many others.
Ingrid continues to break barriers far beyond the stage. In 2017, she became the first Afro-Brazilian ballerina to appear on the cover of Pointe Magazine and later appeared on the cover of Vogue Brasil. She received the Latina Trailblazer Award at Harvard University’s Latina Empowerment & Development Conference and was invited to speak at the United Nations’ 2025 International Women’s Day commemoration. She is also the founder of and co-founder of and
We are deeply honored to begin this new chapter together and cannot wait to share Ingrid’s artistry and vision with our audiences. 💚
