I am a member of a steering committee for an organization called the NY & NJ Middle Passage Port Markers project. Our mission is, "to catalyze the respectful siting, design, and installation of port markers that expand public awareness of the contributions, struggles, and importance of enslaved African people to the national narrative and memory."
