Four years ago, Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Four years of loss, resilience, and extraordinary courage.

As we mark this anniversary, Ukraine Friends continues its mission to support the children and families of fallen defenders. Our largest shipment to date — over 1,250 laptops — has just arrived in Ukraine and is now being prepared for distribution to children who have lost one or both parents due to the war. Education must continue, regardless of the circumstances.

We remain committed — until Ukraine wins, and as it recovers and rebuilds.

The largest shipment of technical equipment donated by TD Bank has finally arrived in Ukraine! 🇺🇦

After months of preparation — coordinating two batches from Canada and the US, assembling, packing, and organizing logistics — 1,000 laptops and 250 tablets have safely reached Kyiv. The shipment arrived on 9 pallets, nearly 140 boxes of technology that will support Ukrainian children in continuing their education during this incredibly difficult time.

Thanks to our strong partnership with the Computers For the Front (Ukraine Protection and Development Fund), over the coming weeks every device will undergo a full technical inspection. Each laptop will have its operating system restored and prepared for use. Our priority is to deliver these devices to the children of fallen heroes, working closely with our trusted partner organizations across Ukraine.

We look forward to placing these laptops directly into the hands of children who need them most — empowering them to learn, grow, and build their future.

As the year comes to a close, we want to thank our donors and supporters for standing with Ukraine Friends. Your generosity and trust made a real difference for Ukrainian children and families living through the realities of war.

Thanks to your support, this year we expanded our partner network, received laptop and financial donations from companies across the U.S. and Europe, and raised awareness among hundreds of global leaders — engaging companies including Accenture, Santander, TD Bank, and others to take action in support of Ukrainian families.

As we head into the new year with strong momentum, our largest shipment of laptops to date is scheduled to arrive in Ukraine at the end of January. This shipment will equip more than 1,000 children with the tools they need to continue their education despite ongoing disruption.

Today, on August 24th, we don’t just celebrate Ukraine’s Independence Day — we honor a nation that continues to stand tall in the face of war.

This Sunday, Ukraine marks 34 years since declaring independence and the fourth Independence Day under Russia’s full-scale invasion. Despite unimaginable challenges, Ukraine continues to stand strong — defending freedom, democracy, and the right to a future of peace. Ukraine Friends is honored to stand alongside the Ukrainian people in this fight.

The cost of war is measured not only in battles but in the lives of ordinary families. Children have lost parents, homes, and classrooms — yet they continue to dream of brighter days. Over the past year, Ukraine Friends has worked to help those dreams endure. With the support of our donors and partners, we have provided essential learning equipment to hundreds of children across the country.

While many others have slowed their efforts, our team continues to push forward. Next week, as the new academic year begins, we will send to Ukraine our largest laptop donation yet — more than 1,000 devices that will help young Ukrainians continue their education through remote learning. We cannot begin to imagine the pain and challenges these children have lived through for the fourth year in a row — constant relocation, loss, and the inability to experience a normal school life with friends, learning, and dreams.

But we know that these children are the future of Ukraine — the ones who will be rebuilding the country and carrying forward its spirit of resilience and hope.
Ukraine’s independence story — and the story of every family supported by Ukraine Friends — is a powerful reminder of the nation’s resilience across centuries. Ukraine’s determination to remain free is unshakable, and together, through unity and support, we strengthen that foundation.

There’s nothing more heartwarming than seeing the smiles of children who just received a laptop through our Digital Wings program. These devices mean so much more than technology — they give kids a chance to keep learning, stay connected, and to dream about the future.

But behind every happy face is an unthinkable loss. Each of these children has lost a father to the war and has lived in the conditions of the war for over three years now. For all this time, their studies and any sense of a normal life have been interrupted. No gift, no amount of help, can ever fill that loss. What we can do is make sure they have the tools they need to keep going — and to know they are not forgotten.

We’re so grateful to our incredible donors for contributing funds and technology, making moments like this possible. And a huge thank you to Forces of Recovery Ukraine and Ukraine Protection and Development Fund for handling the on-the-ground logistics and helping us reach those who need support the most.

On May 24, in the assembly hall of the Boryspil City Administration, families of fallen, missing, and captured soldiers of the 137th Separate Territorial Defense Battalion — families where children are growing up without one of their parents — received laptops to support these children’s remote learning.

This delivery was made possible through a joint effort: Ukraine Friends secured the donation and delivered it to Ukraine, while the Ukraine Protection and Development Fund handled the distribution on the ground and ensured that each device was fully checked and ready for use.

These are more than just devices. For these children, they are tools for learning, for dreaming, for building a future their parents fought to protect.

We will never forget the sacrifices these families have made — and we believe their children deserve every opportunity ahead. Providing access to education is one small way we can stand beside them.

Our duty is not only to support those on the front lines, but also to care for the loved ones of those who have already become heroes.
