Dhanropani: धानक मौसम

With the onset of the monsoon, paddy transplantation begins across Mithila. Young rice seedlings, grown in nursery plots, are pulled up and tied into bundles, then carried to wherever planting is underway. Workers move through standing water in rows, pressing each seedling into the mud by hand, often working together as families and hired labor to plant fields within the narrow window the monsoon allows.

These scenes return every year across the plains of northern Bihar and the Terai. Once the fields are planted, the long wait begins for the rice harvest later in the year.

Rajkamal Chaudhary: a writer who wrote far ahead of his time

Death Anniversary: 19 June, 1967

Mithila fondly remembers one of its boldest and most original writers today, a man who wrote far ahead of his time. Rajkamal Chaudhary lived only thirty-seven years, yet in that brief span he left behind a body of work in Maithili and Hindi that continues to inspire readers and writers even today.

He wrote fearlessly about women forced into silence, hunger that outlasted dignity, desire, and the hypocrisies hidden beneath respectable society, never softening uncomfortable truths. Nearly six decades after his passing, his words still feel contemporary, which is why he is still read today. 🙏🏽

मैथिलीक नवकविताक महत्वपूर्ण स्वर, साहित्यिक चिन्तक, कवि, शिक्षक, सम्पादक आ साहित्यिक कार्यकर्ताक रूपमे किसुन जी मैथिली भाषा आ साहित्यक सेवा मे निरन्तर लागल रहलाह। १९३०क दशकसँ लेखन आरम्भ कऽ ओ कविता, कथा, निबंध आ सम्पादनक क्षेत्रमे सक्रिय रहलाह। हुनक कविता-संग्रह आत्मनेपद तथा सम्पादित संकलन मैथिलीक नव कविता मैथिली साहित्यक महत्वपूर्ण कृतिसभमे गनल जाइत अछि।

जीवन भरि अध्यापनक संग-संग ओ विभिन्न साहित्यिक पत्र-पत्रिका आ सांस्कृतिक गतिविधिसभसँ जुड़ल रहलाह। हुनक प्रकाशित पत्राचार आ संस्मरणसभसँ बुझाइत अछि जे मैथिली भाषा आ साहित्यक विकासक प्रश्न हुनक लेल अत्यन्त महत्वपूर्ण छल। साहित्यिक गतिविधिसभमे सक्रिय रहैत ओ अपन समयक अनेक रचनाकार आ साहित्यिक प्रयाससभसँ सम्बद्ध रहलाह।

मृत्युक पाँच दशकसँ अधिक समयक बादो हुनक रचनासभकेँ संकलित आ पुनर्प्रकाशित कयल जा रहल अछि। किसुन रचनावली, किसुन समग्र तथा प्रकाशित पत्र-संग्रह एहि बातक प्रमाण अछि जे पाठक, सम्पादक आ शोधकर्ता लोकनि हुनक साहित्यिक योगदानकेँ सहेजबाक प्रयास निरन्तर करैत रहल छथि। ई प्रयाससभ केवल एक साहित्यकारक स्मृतिक संरक्षण नहि, बल्कि मैथिली साहित्यक इतिहासक एक महत्वपूर्ण अध्यायक संरक्षण सेहो थिक।

मिथिलासँ नेहकेँ शब्दमे बाँधब संभव अछि कि?

सम्भवतः नहि।

जीवन बहुत दूर धरि लोककेँ लऽ जाइत अछि, मुदा स्मृति बेर-बेर हुनका अपन जड़िक लग लऽ आनैत अछि। बरखाक दिन, माटिक सोंन्ह गमक, अपन लोक आ जीवनक ओ सरल लय।

एहि नेहक व्याख्या करब कठिन अछि।
