Congratulations to Sohaila for winning this year’s Women in Action leadership award presented by Uplifting Afghan Girls!

Sohaila was chosen for this award because of her exemplary leadership this school year. She demonstrated courage by starting her school’s first club dedicated to constructive dialogue, called “The Civility Club: How to Agree to Disagree.” Sohaila was also Operation Her Future’s first lead student advocate, traveling to Capitol Hill in Washington, DC to advocate for Afghan girls’ education. UAG is proud to honor Sohaila with this award as she uses her voice to uplift her community and girls around the world.

Thank you so much to everyone who joined us last night for our celebration reception! Stony Brook University and UAG are thrilled to announce that yet again this summer, SBU is investing in Afghan girls’ education! Afghan young women already studying at high schools in the U.S. are invited to apply to SBU’s pre-college program, and pay less than half of the tuition rate - only $1100! This special rate is for a one week pre-college program and includes lodging, food and supplies. Choose from over 20 different courses including subjects like AI, law, health professions, computational linguistics, and much more! Message us for more info.

Uplifting Afghan Girls was thrilled to partner with Stony Brook Stony Brook University to give Afghan young women the special opportunity to attend their Pre College Program this summer. UAG students and students attended courses on medicine and law, amount other topics. Thank you Stony Brook for the scholarships and for prioritizing Afghan girls’ education!

Announcing our final award winners for the 2024-25 school year: we are so thrilled to share that sisters Raihana and Sohaila were selected for UAG’s “Top Scholar” award for distinguished academic achievement. The Top Scholar award is given to students who have final grades of 4.0 or higher. Congratulations to the girls on this momentous accomplishment!

We are so proud to share that Setayish was given UAG’s “Rising Star” academic achievement award for the 2024-25 school year! This award is given to a student who demonstrates their commitment to academic excellence by notably improving their final grades. While grades alone are not the most important factor for academic achievement, we do wish to honor her many hours of hard work. Well done, Setayish!
