We won the tender to calculate Sopot City's carbon footprint! 🤩 🎉

We are incredibly pleased that the city of Sopot, with which we are neighbors, will count its emissions for 2022 for the first time with our help!

💁‍♂️ Our experts will count Sopot City's carbon footprint for 2022 at the BASIC level, based on the Global Protocol for Community-Scale Greenhouse Gas Inventories methodology, and prepare recommendations on emission reductions for the city.

🧑‍🎓 Also, we will conduct a workshop on calculating city emissions for Sopot City Hall employees!

The role of cities in the global effort to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050 is crucial, there is no doubt about it. 🏙️ They are the "hot spots" ♨️ on the map of greenhouse gas emissions because the most essential modern civilization activities occur in urban areas, and at the same time, they are the areas most sensitive to climate change. 🌍

Cities in the European Union cover only 4% of the land area but are home to 75% of EU citizens. In addition, cities consume more than 65% of the world's energy and account for more than 70% of global CO2e emissions. It is estimated that by 2050, nearly 85% of Europeans will live in cities.

OSHEE eatyx is counting the carbon footprint of its products with us! OSHEE SA

Did you know that food production is responsible for as much as ¼ of global greenhouse gas emissions? Global food waste generates such a large carbon footprint that if it were a country, it would rank 3rd in the world regarding emissions!

That's why we're tremendously pleased to have started counting the carbon footprint of OSHEE eatyx brand products, which offer functional foods that support our health and have a better environmental impact.

We calculated the carbon footprint of Oshee Eatyx's products – a balanced, wholesome, ready-to-eat, chocolate-flavored meal.

Our experts calculated that compared to a traditional dish with the same calories amount, the production of Oshee Eatyx generates as much as 59% less greenhouse gas emissions.

That's a huge difference!

Detailed data on analyzing a product's carbon footprint over its entire life cycle is available in the LCA report we prepared for Oshee.

The research* shows that consumers expect brands to take climate action and that we want to buy environmentally friendly products (as mentioned in the 12th Sustainable Development Goal - Responsible Production and Consumption).

Most of you likely know that blockchain is currently one of the most secure forms of data storage because a record, once it's entered into the network, cannot be removed or altered from it.

However, blockchain is finding more and more applications, such as storing company records, validating legal contracts, and authenticating processes. 📲

We are incredibly pleased to announce our partnership with Billon Group, through which our carbon neutrality certificates will be stored in blockchain technology and thus gain additional statements of their transparency. 🔥 They will also be accessible to any network user.

Together with Billon Group, we will offer their customers completely carbon-neutral records of documents and data on the blockchain. 🌐🪙

Greenhouse gas emissions are divided into 3 scopes, according to the source of their origin. 🤔

Scope 1 – are direct emissions. They arise from the combustion of fuels in the company's stationary and mobile sources. 🏢 🚗

Scope 2 – are indirect emissions. They arise due to the purchase of electricity, heat, or cooling. 🔌 ♨

Scope 3 – are indirect emissions as well. They arise from a company or organization's supply chain and value chain. 🛍 🗺

❓ Why do you run your offsetting project in Belize?

If we counted how often we'd heard this question, we'd need a calculator and a free evening to do some lengthy mathematical calculations. 🧮 🌃

TerGo was created to combat climate change - encouraging businesses to count, reduce and compensate for their GHG emission. It was also established for individuals who feel that their small efforts don't make much sense in the face of the enormity of the effects caused on our planet by climate change.

Emissions have no boundaries, and it doesn’t matter where greenhouse gases are sequestered. 🌎 Most importantly, they are removed from the atmosphere through projects that benefit people in need and restore biodiversity. That is why we must act everywhere on Earth. 🙌

As residents of the global North, we bear responsibility for the overwhelming majority of greenhouse gas emissions, and the resulting effects are primarily left by residents of the global South. This realization led to coining the term ‘climate justice’ a few years ago. As inhabitants of the developed world, we have an obligation to invest in developing regions. 💰 These investments can profoundly change someone’s life for the better. 💪

So, yes. We are running an agroforestry project in Belize because it brings real help and supports to the people living there, restores biodiversity, and – as has been scientifically proven – planting trees there provides greater efficiency in absorbing greenhouse gases. 🌳

However, from the beginning, we have also been active locally. For example, we support Poland's UNEP/GRID-Warszawa Center peatland protection project.
Protecting peatlands prevents millions of tons of CO2 from being emitted into the atmosphere and saves animals! 🦆🦫 🌾 When buying one of our compensation plans, you can also choose to support Polish peatlands, as one of our partners, Netguru, recently did. ❤️

The first time in front of an audience in Tel Aviv as part of EIT Urban Mobility competition. We were selected as a finalist in the Smart and Sustainable Mobility Accelerator Program.

The second pitch was an online Pitching Workshop with VC funds representatives as a part of the Hello CleanTech Startup Challenge by Vestbee. 🙌
