Dear CASC members,

Because the Covid-19 situation has improved, now supplemental EA SNAP benefits will no longer be issued beginning March 2023. SNAP households will continue to get their normal monthly SNAP benefit as long as they are eligible.

Now we're dealing with serious inflation, foods prices are generally rising our buying power is decreasing, all of us are experiencing the difficult time. The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program known as "food stamps" provides food assistance for nearly 1.8 million low-income New Yorkers. Summer is coming, the 2022 Cooling Assistance benefit opens NOW. Eligibility is based on income, free air conditioner or fan is given to eligible household, including installation but not to exceed $800. The units are provided on a first come, first serve basis.

Updates on CASC services :

*** Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP)- The eligible households receive a monthly credit up to $30 towards high-speed internet services.

*** Interpretation Services - Provides interpretation services to the elderly people who are non-English readers and non-English speakers.

*** Reduced-Fare MetroCard - The eligible families enjoy half price subway fare discount.

*** Health Insurance - Having a agent in center to help our members for the application of health insurances.

*** Social Security Services - Making an appointments to our members for the applications of social security services.

*** SNAP Food Stamp - The low-income families will get the food stamp monthly if they are qualified.

*** Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) - This program helps the eligible households pay the cost of their home heating to the participating vendors.

Hi CASC members,

As we know that the crime rate has risen sharply in NYC, this situation is getting worse and worse. Recently many elderly people are often attacked in the subway stations, concerning about the safety in where we live, it is best to have a companion to go with you when you are outside, especially on the way home, pay attention to your surroundings whether any suspect behind.

Due to the shortage of police officers, we need to be more vigilant and learn how to protect ourselves and our families.

UPDATES ON CASC SERVICES

We are currently providing the following services in center.

* The service of letter interpretation for non-English readers.

* Applying Emergency Broadband Benefit Program (EBB) for the eligible families.

* We have an agent in our center and help our members applying the health insurance in person.

* Getting free phones for eligible households.

* Agent who from Hunter Free NYC helps low-income families for applying SNAP food stamp in person.

* Helping members make appointments for applying SSI, Retirement Benefit and Medicare Card.

Dear CASC's members,

Covid-19 is very serious and very contagious.

It is a time to get a Covid-19 booster vaccine dose if you have 2nd dose of vaccine at least 6 months ago.

The elderly people should get a booster if they are 60 and older, especially those with chronic illnesses. It helps to improve the protection from you have your first 2 doses of vaccines. The vaccines work to reduce the risk of severe disease, hospitalization and even death.
