On Thursday, October 9th, the WVI Dolphin Foundation Leadership Mentorship program partnered with the Harlem YMCA to host an inspiring and interactive module on "Networking for Life and Career Success."

Our mentees learned to intentionally identify "allies"— contacts both willing and able to champion their journey. They defined their Unique Value Proposition (UVP) and perfected their Elevator Pitches!

A HUGE highlight of the evening was hearing from NBA Legend and LIU Head Basketball Coach Rod Strickland! His message? "Be comfortable in your struggle." He stressed that persistence and adaptability are the keys to growth.

A heartfelt thanks to Christopher Foster, Executive Director of the Harlem YMCA, along with his invaluable support team, and to NBA legend and LIU Head Basketball Coach Rod Strickland.

We also extend our immense gratitude to our amazing corporate sponsors, Hydro Québec and the New York Power Authority, and to our dedicated mentors from the Channelview, Urban Dove, NYPD, Harlem, and Flatbush YMCA!

The WVI Dolphin Foundation launched our 2024 Leadership Mentor Program at the New York Power Authority (NYPA) HQ on Saturday, April 13th.

The module focused on developing mentee passion for STEM, career exploration and development, and self-esteem enhancement. During our dynamic tour of NYPA’s new Integrated Smart Operations Center (ISOC) the mentees were fascinated to learn that NYPA is working to become the first end-to-end digital electricity system.

On Thursday, February 25, 2021, the WVI Dolphin Foundation hosts Kevin Atlas as a guest speaker for our Leadership and Life Skills Mentorship Program. Kevin brings his unique experiences from being the first-ever one-armed NCAA Division 1 basketball player.

He tells his inspiring story in his book Get in the Game, where he outlines the struggles and successes he has faced. Kevin travels the country, giving his motivational speeches to those looking to be inspired by his moving story.

Kevin is already making an impact, and if you would like to do so as well, please join us in raising funds for Blue and Gold Star children and families! Our fundraiser Leadership and Life Skills Programs helps these children who are struggling get back on their feet and ready to face any challenges ahead. The fundraiser is now live on our page.
