Community care is what keeps Prospect Park glowing. πŸ™Œβœ¨πŸŒ³ A huge shoutout to St. Paul's Church in the Village of Flatbush for joining us this August as part of Park Pitch In: Green and Go! Together with fellow volunteers, they collected 32 bags of litter around the Picnic House, 3rd Street Playground, Grand Army Plaza and the Nethermead.

St. Paul's Church in the Village of Flatbush has been a valued Community Committee partner, helping care for Brooklyn's Backyard through its ongoing commitment to service for the past seven years. Thank you for helping keep Prospect Park cleaner, healthier and more welcoming for everyone. Are you part of a nonprofit community group looking to volunteer? Visit prospectpark.org/volunteer to learn how you can help care for this beloved park.

Brooklyn's Backyard is full of remarkable wildlife! From takeoff to touchdown, this features a Great Egret gliding across Prospect Park Lake, as a Double-crested Cormorant watches from a nearby branch.

That impressive wingspan in the second photo isn't just for show. Great Egrets use this technique to block glare on the water, giving them a clearer view of fish below. A special thank you to IG user ruggedvibes12 for capturing and sharing these incredible moments from Prospect Park.

🚲 Progress is taking shape along Ocean Avenue! Phase 1 at the north end is wrapping up, and work continues to transform the park's perimeter thanks to funding from NYC Mayor's Office, NYC DOT, Brooklyn Borough President Antonio Reynoso + Council Member Rita Joseph. The new protected bike lane is opening soon, making trips to Brooklyn's Backyard safer and more accessible. Plus, look out for new trees, benches, and street furniture arriving by late fall.

🚧 As work shifts southward, the Lincoln Road Entrance will be restored as part of Phase 2, and visitors will be temporarily redirected to an entrance a few minutes south. Learn more at prospectpark.org/oceanparkside.

History isn't just in books, it's in the rhythm. πŸ‘žβœ¨ Join Prospect Park Alliance and joseph webb + friends on Sunday, August 16 from 2–5 pm at Lefferts Historic House for an interactive exploration of tap dance history.

The performance traces tap's roots in African American culture and the legacy of Master Juba, moving through the swing, jazz, and bebop eras into modern-day hip-hop. Along the way, audiences will discover how music, movement, and cultural exchange shaped this uniquely American art form. Learn more + RSVP at link in bio or prospectpark.org/tap
