Prospect Park Alliance is the non-profit organization that sustains, restores and advances Prospect Park, "Brooklyn's Backyard," in partnership with the City of New York. The Alliance provides a majority of the staff and resources that keep the Park green and vibrant for the diverse communities that call Brooklyn home.

Prioritize Wellness in Brooklyn's Backyard! Every Monday at the Parkside + Ocean Avenue Entrance and every Thursday at Grand Army Plaza, Prospect Park Alliance is collaborating with NY-Presbyterian Hospital to offer free, comprehensive sexual health services in Prospect Park from from 10 am–3pm. The NewYork-Presbyterian Sexual Health Mobile Medical Unit is a safe, inclusive space for people to receive high-quality sexual health services from a team of NewYork-Presbyterian healthcare providers. Patients can also be connected to social services, benefits enrollment + local healthcare providers. No insurance or ID is required to receive care.

The Sexual Health Mobile Medical Unit is made possible through funding from the Dalio Center for Health Justice and the Division of Community and Population Health at NewYork-Presbyterian, and a grant from the CDC/Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Our hearts are heavy as we mourn the passing of Gordon Davis, an instrumental figure and beloved friend of Prospect Park Alliance.

Prospect Park Alliance would not exist without Davis, whose leadership helped lay the foundation for the park's restoration and the creation of the Alliance.

In 1980, Davis hired Tupper Thomas as Prospect Park's first official administrator. Building on the management structure Davis established, Thomas worked closely with local Brooklyn leaders to launch the Prospect Park Alliance in 1987.

The changes Davis put in place helped Prospect Park move from a deteriorating, underfunded space in the late 1970s to a restored landmark serving millions of visitors each year. We remember Gordon Davis and are grateful for the lasting impact of his leadership on Brooklyn's Backyard. c. Prospect Park Archives

Thank you to everyone who came out for the Third United Lenape/Lunáapeew Nations Pow Wow in Brooklyn's Backyard! 🪶 We're honored to partner with Éenda-Lŭnaapeewáhkiing Collective and American Indian Community House to bring Indigenous communities together in the Lenape people's ancestral homelands.

Over the weekend, park-goers gathered for dancing, drumming, art, food and community. We also extend our thanks to Commissioner Diya Vij of New York City Department of Cultural Affairs, Brooklyn Borough President Antonio Reynoso and Prospect Park Alliance President Morgan Monaco for welcoming attendees, as well as the leaders, coordinators, emcees and volunteers who made the weekend possible. 425 trees planted for the future of Brooklyn's Backyard. 🌳 City of Forest Day brought 44 volunteers together with our Woodlands Youth Crew, Landscape Management team and Volunteer team to plant a diverse mix of native trees across three areas of the Ravine, including red maple, sweet birch, flowering dogwood, blackgum, eastern white pine and several species of oak.

For many New Yorkers, City of Forest Day is their first chance to plant a tree. A big thank you to Forest for All NYC and everyone who came out to grow the next generation of Prospect Park's natural areas, creating habitat for wildlife and strengthening Brooklyn's last remaining upland forest. c. There's life after death in the forest! 🌳 Today, on City of Forest Day, watch how Prospect Park Alliance Ecological Zone Gardener Aiden McBride and volunteers transform a storm-damaged Black Tupelo tree into erosion barriers and habitat for wildlife.

In partnership with Natural Areas Conservancy, the Alliance is undertaking a multi-year effort to restore important woodland landscapes across Brooklyn's Backyard, including Roosevelt Hill, where this tree fell. Learn more about our forest restoration efforts: prospectpark.org/forest-restoration
