Morris Heights Health Center

Morris Heights Health Center Morris Heights Health Center shall be the vanguard for quality, affordable and accessible health care for all. They come first! No matter what.

With Morris Heights Neighborhood Improvement Association (MHNIA) as its guide, and founder, Verona Greenland, at the helm, Morris Heights Health Center opened its doors in March 1981. Supported by a staff of 10, the center began in earnest to meet the health and social needs of community residents. Thirty years later, Morris Heights Health Center has evolved into a mutli-site organization, with a

six story, mixed-use facility, which opened in the summer of 2010. At our health center, everything is focused on our patients. That's why we're known as "The Caring Place"-a facility where the patient is at the center of everything we do. That's a standard of care you can expect, and a promise you can have confidence in seeing fulfilled. Morris Heights Health Center is a world-class model for health care delivery and an oasis of hope. Aptly called “The Caring Place: where the patient is at the center of everything we do”, Morris Heights Health Center is a safe haven, treating the community with dignity, respect and delivering the highest quality of care and support to ALL patients that come through our doors regardless of their ability to pay.

Community health begins with showing up where our neighbors already gather.
Twice each month, the MHHC Community Engagement Team joins the community at Yankasa Masjid during Friday prayers to connect with individuals and families, share information about MHHC services, answer questions, and identify ways to make accessing healthcare a little easier.
This outreach is strengthened through partnership. Together with Yankasa Masjid, the Muslim Women’s Institute for Research and Development (MWIRD), ICNA, and MetroPlusHealth, we are creating a welcoming space where healthcare information, community resources, and practical support come together.
During this recent outreach, we distributed 200 hot meals to community members—demonstrating what is possible when trusted organizations work side by side in service to the Bronx.
For MHHC, community engagement is about more than providing information. It is about listening, building relationships, connecting people to care, and asking a simple question:
How can MHHC help make life healthier and better for you and your family?

Community. Connection. Access. 💙🧡

Over the past two weeks MHHC has been out in the community—meeting families where they are, sharing health information and resources, and connecting our neighbors to the services and support available at MHHC.

Yesterday, we were proud to join Davidson Community Center’s Back-to-School Happy Kids Community Health & Wellness event, helping families prepare for a healthy and successful school year. From back-to-school celebrations to community health and wellness events, every conversation is an opportunity to build trust, strengthen relationships, and create pathways to better health.

A special thank you to our community partners for welcoming MHHC and for the important work they do every day. Together, we’re building healthier families and stronger communities—one connection at a time.

Supporting students means supporting the future of our community. 🎒📚
Morris Heights Health Center was proud to provide back-to-school supplies in support of Assembly Member Karines Reyes, R.N., District 87, and her ongoing work serving families throughout Parkchester, West Farms, Castle Hill, Westchester Square and surrounding Bronx communities.
