The International Youth Concerned Society (IYCS) is proud to announce the successful completion of the “Overcoming Maths Anxiety Program”, a special initiative designed to help students build confidence in mathematics. This 2-month virtual program, running from July to September, was tailored for students in grades 8th, 9th, and 10th, with the goal of easing their anxiety around math through fun, interactive sessions.

Every weekend, for one hour on both Saturdays and Sundays, a cohort of 10 dedicated students gathered for online sessions to explore the basics of mathematics. The program was designed not only to tackle common math problems but also to engage students with creative, problem-solving activities like graphical designs and math riddles, making the learning experience enjoyable and less intimidating.

The program kicked off with an orientation session where students openly discussed their struggles with math and received much-needed mental support. A special highlight of the program was a “personal stories” session where participants shared their journeys of overcoming math anxiety, fostering a sense of community and mutual encouragement.

Through this initiative, the IYCS has successfully created a safe, supportive environment where students could improve their math skills while also addressing the emotional and psychological challenges associated with math anxiety.
