Date: 01/27/2026 DMV SYSTEM UPGRADE – PRESIDENTS DAY WEEKEND
DMV/VERIFI Message #140
The New York State DMV is upgrading it systems over Presidents Day Weekend.
THERE ARE NO EXPECTED IMPACTS TO COMPLETING ELECTRONIC TRANSACTIONS IN VERIFI The VERIFI system is expected to be available and able to process transactions throughout the upgrade period with one minor exception: The optional entry field for the drivers’ license number during a retail transfer will be temporarily removed. As always, if there is any unplanned system outage, dealers are permitted to use secure paper MV-50s (see VERIFI messages #99 and #137). If used, any paper MV50 sales must be entered into VERIFI PROMPTLY WITHIN 48 hours. All transactions should be attempted electronically in VERIFI even if a previous transaction required the use of a secure paper MV-50. Dealers are responsible for maintaining an adequate supply of secure paper MV50s. Dealers should review inventory levels now and order stock if needed to ensure their ability to transfer vehicles is not affected by any outage, related to the system upgrade or otherwise. The upgrade is scheduled to begin at 6pm on Friday, February 13th, 2026, and is anticipated to end the afternoon of Tuesday, February 17th, 2026. DMV strongly encourages that all users of the VERIFI system closely monitor the system for any additional messages.
