Sgt. Michael Emmanuel Swinton, 30, of Fayetteville, North Carolina, was killed at Erbil Air Base in northern Iraq during a controlled detonation of a downed Iranian attack drone. He was a father of two.

He enlisted in 2017 and served with the 2nd Battalion, 55th Air Defense Artillery Regiment out of Fort Bragg. He has been posthumously promoted to staff sergeant and will receive the Bronze Star, Purple Heart and Combat Action Badge.
