These are places where the lodge retains an important connection to local history and continues to enjoy an esteemed role in civic life. Lodges in tight-knit communities are often able to make an outsize impact on those around them—from something as simple as collecting donations for a local cause, to issuing a college scholarship for a local student, or renting out their lodge hall for the high school prom. That's an important lesson, and one lodges everywhere would do well to heed.
