🎃 Pumpkin Patch Magic at Ort Farms 🎃
This weekend, our Off The Block kids traded concrete for cornfields—and for many, it was their first time ever leaving the block.

They laughed, they picked pumpkins straight from the vine, and they experienced something new—something joyful, simple, and unforgettable.

These moments matter.
These trips matter.
Because experiential learning opens minds, builds confidence, and connects kids to a world beyond their doorstep.

In communities where public policy has failed, it’s up to us to create opportunity. Off The Block is doing just that—but we can’t do it alone.

For the past four years, Off The Block has been empowering kids from East Harlem’s Taft Houses to dream bigger, creating safe spaces, inspiring learning experiences, and sparking hope for brighter futures.

Our motto, “See it to be it,” reflects our belief that when children are exposed to new possibilities, they can envision—and achieve—a future full of opportunity.

🎉 Exciting News! 🎉 Nearly 100 kindergarten, first, and second graders from NYCHA’s Taft Houses are one step closer to their futures! Thanks to Off The Block and the Candice and Noah Feinberg Charitable Foundation, and the Taft Residents Association, these students received $100 each in their NYC Scholarship Accounts at Cooke School and Institute in Harlem.

This $8,000 Community Scholarship, supported by additional funds from NYC Kids RISE, is creating opportunities for higher education, technical training, and personal growth. Off The Block is dedicated to empowering the children of Taft Houses by investing in their education and aspirations.

Dream Team Collaboration: Solutions Now/Off The Block and Pajama Program.

What a day to remember! We dove into a world of dreams and stories at our enchanting daytime slumber party. 🌈🛌 It was all about celebrating the wonders of a peaceful night's sleep, the endless adventures books bring into our lives, and the importance of expanding children’s vocabulary at a young age. 📖✨

Our special guest, the incredible Children’s Author Tanya Wright, Ed.M, took us on an unforgettable journey with her book “Goodnight, Harriette,” followed by a vibrant puppet show that brought giggles and awe. 🎭📚
Each little dreamer embraced a new Teddy Bear and was given a brand new pair of cozy pajamas, their faces glowing with happiness. They're all set for dreamland, thanks to the loving team at the Pajama Program and the magical Tanya Wright. 🧸💖
A heartfelt shoutout to everyone involved in weaving this beautiful day! Let’s fill every night with dreams and every day with stories. Dream big, sleep well, and keep reading! 🌙🧸

A Day to Remember at Ort Farm! 🍁🎃
Just picture it: Gleaming eyes, cheeks rosy from the crisp fall air, and a chorus of giggles echoing across the farm. That was the scene as we whisked our wonderful kids from NYCHA’s Taft Houses “Off the Block” and into the picturesque heart of Long Valley, New Jersey.

Ort Farm didn’t just offer apple and pumpkin picking; it promised - and delivered - unforgettable memories. From thrilling hayrides that had the kids gripping their seats in excitement to the warm and fuzzy moments feeding the farm animals, every moment was a snapshot of pure joy. And who can forget the sweet, tangy taste of freshly pressed apple cider, reminding us all of the cozy essence of autumn?

Our commitment has always been to provide our children with not just programs but experiences of impeccable quality. And days like this? They serve as the very embodiment of our mission.

Thanks to WCBS New York & Elijah Westbrook for spotlighting our brilliant kids from NYCHA's Taft Houses who pushed boundaries, sending a High Altitude Balloon to the edge of space! 🌌 In partnership with Taft Residents Association, The City College of New York, Launch With Us, Solutions Now provided an unforgettable STEM experience for the young resident scientist of our “Off The Block” program. Solutions Now and the Taft Houses Resident Association are proud to announce an exciting new partnership we're serving up this summer with City Pickle! Pickleball, the fastest growing sport in America, will be brought to the kids of the Taft Houses and the Central Harlem community through a new program where they will receive free equipment and lessons from City Pickle all summer.
